Location description from owner
The England region
Whitstable town is quaint town with charming sea side shops and tea rooms. The beach is a stone's throw away and the walk along the beach are very pleasant. The harbour is within walking distance as is Whitstable Castle. Local fisherman sell their fish in the harbour, which has shops and can be the height of activity during the summer months. In the town itself, you have the Osyter Bar called Wheelers, where visitors travel to eat oysters in the small bar and sample the local delights. The sunsets are beautiful on the beach. Nearby, 8 miles away is Canterbury which offers all the quaintness of a busy historic town. Canterbury Cathedral and St Augustine's are places to visit whilst in Canterbury. You can catch a bus to Canterbury locally. Whitstable Yacht Club host events on the beach annually, particularly the sailing races, filling the sea with their sailing boats and sometimes the larger sail yachts. The Tower of London is a popular place to visit in London. Also Oxford Street, Harrods, Selfridges for shopping and plenty more. London is easy to visit via Train or drive to the O2 and park up and continue your journey by underground. All manageable in a day visit to London from Whitstable Station. Take part in 2012 Olympics by traveling by fast train to Strafford International. Or stay locally and visit nearby Herne Bay which you can walk or ride your bike to along by the sea. Stop off at the band stand in Herne Bay or continue to Reculver to see the remaining Towers still standing in Reculver.
There are three local Golf Clubs nearby, Whitstable and Seasalter Golf Club, Chestfield Golf Club and Bought-Under-Blean Golf Club, all welcome visitors. In the nearby Waterfront which apart from the stunning balcony views it has two squash courts. Upstairs has a sports bar with plenty of flat TV's to keep an eye on any sport taking place. Windsurfing is popular here and coaching is available nearby. Bowling and swimming are local too, open to the public. Whitstable Castle has the lovely grounds to walk in and host events continually through the year. On Tankerton seafront which is near the castle, events often are held like the Vintage Car Show or the Rotary Club sponsoring a charity event. This area is very pleasant and the views are wonderful. You see the windfarm at work which has 26 windfarms producing energy. Events take place throughout the year such as the Whitstable carnival that ends with fireworks for all to enjoy.
