The Kent region
Kent,The Garden of England, has everything from the rolling hills of the North Downs Way to the surprising solitude of the north Kent estuaries and marshes. Canterbury boasts its spectacular medieval cathedral while near Sandwich at Richborough you can experience the early Roman settlement of Britain.
Castles(Dover,Leeds,Walmer), fishing ports and medieval towns make this corner of Britain endlessly fascinating, while the countryside provides wonderful walks, both coastal and inland.
Whitstable has long been associated with locally caught seafood and in particular oysters, it has a working harbour with a small fleet of fishing boats that catch fish daily for sale in the harbour fish market.
In recent times,Whitstable and its vicinity has become nationally acclaimed for its restaurants and places to eat.
The countryside nearby is great for walking and cycling with very little to interrupt you between Whitstable and Canterbury except woodland - there is a great ride which takes you to Canterbury on the Crab and Winkle Way (the Victorian railway line which took fish and oysters to London ) now set up for walkers and riders to enjoy themselves free from the hassle of traffic.
Whitstable has been voted the town in the UK with the most varied and healthy independent shop scene; and you are staying right in the middle of that! The Whiting Post and its sister shop, The Clothes Horse, are both essential parts of the retail experience. There are many other shops well worth a visit.
The beach at Whitstable and Tankerton are wonderful places for swimming, water sports or just watching the fabulous sunsets.

"Wonderful stay in very pretty cottage"
We had a great stay in this wonderful cottage. It is done to a high standard, with beautiful decor throughout, in a shabby-chic style, with pretty white wooden floorboards, and a very clean bathroom. Three bedrooms all done in the same style, very comfortable and nice. I would say that as there are three bedrooms, the kitchen/living area might not be big enough if there are six adults staying in the cottage, but as there is so much to do in Whitstable that wouldn't really matter. I can highly recommend the two pubs nearby, for an evening out and meals, and also the Marine Hotel which we went to for a birthday meal, which was excellent. The cottage is so well placed, near the centre of town and by the beach, which makes for fantastic walks, whatever the weather - despite the fact it was freezing, the town was buzzing and all the pubs, restaurants and shops busy.

"Very comfortable stay"
The cottage was great, has everything you need and was very close to town. Stayed here with my Mum and my 2 kids for 5 nights. The main issue is parking, but we knew this from the previous reviews and we did manage to get parked very close to the cottage on the occasions we went out by car. The kids loved the loft room, although that roof window does need a child lock in case of inquisitive kids. We drove to Botany Bay and was very impressed with that beach and definately think it is worth the drive. Overall, a great place that I would recomend for a short stay

"A relaxing girly retreat, central for shopping and restaurants."
clean and comfortable with a modern bathroom and kitchen. very central to main high street of whitstable and beach. easy to liaise with owner as shop owned was 2 mins walk from house. myself and 5 friends said we want to make this an annual weekend girls getaway. Not able to park directly outside house , though on less high peak times this might be possible but was able to park a few minutes walk down the street. we all came in separate cars and could all do this.

"Lovely cottage for group of friends or family"
Stayed in Bight Cottage with hubby and four friends. The attic room was a a bit of a squeeze but ideal for two children/teenagers. Otherwise, perfect house, in a perfect setting and Adrian was very accommodating and flexible.

"Just perfect, a lovely place to stay."
My daughter and her husband were attending a wedding in Whitsatble from San Francisco so we drove up from Exeter in Devon and my other daughter travelled from London. We all met up in this lovely house for the weekend. It was perfect, only 10 mins walk from the wedding venue on the beach and a few minutes walk to the lovely town. The house was perfect, so clean and beautifully furnished. Thank you for letting us stay here which allowed us to spend quality time as a family!

"Pretty cottage in perfect location"
My friends and I came to stay at Bight Cottage for New Years and had a wonderful time. The cottage is a great size for 6 people and decked out beautifully with Cath Kidston, Orla Kiely and Pip Studio a-plenty. Great location near to the high street / harbour street and most importantly the sea! We love Whitstable - it is a must, for any occasion, and we would definitely reccomend Bight cottage for your stay! All communication and service on arrival from the owners was top notch too.

"Beautiful decor, great location."
This is a lovely holiday rental, perfectly located for the shops, harbour, beach, pubs and restaurants. It is beautifully decorated, with lots of really nice touches. The rooms are all a good size and the beds are very comfortable. The road is nice and quiet, although parking is a bit of a pain (but it is free).
