Location description from owner

The England region

Kent is a beautiful county with rolling hills and beaches, the sea is pleasant for swimming in the summer and great for winter walks.

Whitstable

Whitstable is famous for its long association with locally caught seafood and in particular oysters, it has one of very few remaining working harbours with a small fleet of fishing boats, that catch fish daily for sale in the harbour fish market.

Many of the towns very good restaurants serve excellent fish dishes, but also cater for meat fans and vegetarians.

The countryside nearby is great for walking and cycling with very little to interrupt you between Whitstable and Canterbury except woodland - there is a great ride which takes you to canterbury on the Crab and Winkle Way - once upon a time the railway line which took fish and oysters to london for sale at market, now set up for walkers and riders to enjoy themselves free from the hassle of traffic.

“An ok stay”

Reviewed 30 Nov 2011

Great location in the centre of Whitstable. The cottage is in a narrow street of terraced cottages, close to the centre of the town. The cottage itself was small with a front room and a kitchen/diner. Upstairs there were two double bedrooms and on the top floor a further bedroom but this was locked off by the owner. The stairs up to the bedrooms were VERY steep so beware if you are with a young family or elderly guests! The street was quiet and the back bedroom lovely and peaceful, but our friends in the front room complained of late night noise and an uncomfy bed. The neighbours were miserable when we arrived and in as many words warned us of not making any noise - a great welcome! All in all we enjoyed the stay, but were only there for 3 nights. The area is lovely; Whitstable is a great place and is very convenient for visiting the Kent coast and countryside.

I have a visitors book full of lovely reviews from 99.9% of my guests, most of them citing the fact that the cottage is a quiet retreat and that it is very relaxing and comfortable - especially the beds - please come along and judge for yourselves.
