Location description from owner

The Scotland region

The Isle of Arran is Scotland's most southerly inhabited Island. It is also the most accessible as the ferry is only 1 hour from Glasgow by car or train and an hours crossing to Brodick, Arran's largest village. The climate is particularly mild due to the Gulf Stream as is evidenced by the plethora of palm trees and gardens with exotic flora.Often named 'Scotland in Miniature' the scenery varies from rolling farmland in the south to the stunning and easily accessible mountain range of which Goatfell is the highest. A walk to the summit and back takes between 4 1/2 to 6 hours and yields spectacular views to Ireland and across the Clyde estuary.

Whiting Bay

Whiting Bay is on Arran's east coast 9 miles south of Brodick. It is well served with shops and restaurants with a couple of beaches. A walk round the nearby Glenashdale falls is a must and there are numerous mountain bike trails linking up the interior of the Island.

“Wonderful cottage on a wonderful island.”

Reviewed 9 Dec 2014

We had a fantastic time staying at Benview Cottage! Andy was very accommodating about our arrival time and we had no trouble accessing the property at all. The cottage itself is very well decorated, comfortable and cosy. It is located near to hiking trails and the beach. It can be a bit of a challenge to find the cottage when you first arrive, but as long as you follow the directions, it shouldn't be a problem. Overall, we had a great time on Arran and it was definitely in part because of our wonderful accommodation.
