“A wonderful Christmas!”
We spent a week during Christmas and it was wonderful, the comfort of the cottage was excellent, cosy and warm with the log burner and very comfortable beds, and not forgetting the rainforest shower! The cottage was decorated with a full size Christmas Tree for when we arrived with luxury treat in the form of cakes on arrival. It was well-equipped with games, books, all you need for a thoroughly relaxing week. Only negative was the games room which was a bit disappointing but the young of our group ranged from 14-18 years so it wasn't our main concern. Setting was lovely, especially with the church opposite, a very pretty place indeed. Would definitely go again!
Many thanks for your review. In early January we re-decorated the games room. If you would like to suggest some different / extra games to go in there, do let me know and i will get them in. Katie
“Lovely cottage in tranquil setting”
This cottage is lovely. Very well equipped and tastefully presented. Provides excellent access for local walks The owner was welcoming and very attentive to our needs. A delicious cake, bread, tea and coffee etc. was waiting upon our arrival. Perfect if you're looking for a peaceful, relaxing break
Many thanks for your review Helle. I'd be interested to know if you feel there is anything we could improve upon to achieve a full 5* rating?
I would recommend this cottage to anyone and would happily visit again. There was plenty of space for 8 adults and 2 infants, and the attached garage was ideal for the dog. The cottage was clean and had all required equipment and facilities. Set in a rural location with plenty of countryside to explore we all enjoyed our stay. The cottage was also excellent value for money.
“Lovely Cottage, Amazing views”
The Cottage in Garanew is absolutely amazing. Exactly as described on the website. It’s spacious and clean. It’s in a lovely location and the views are spectacular. The bedrooms are all reasonably sized and beds are comfortable. Katie left a cake, bread, tea, coffee and milk for us on arrival and then came to meet us in person to tell us about the things we can do in the local area. Unlike other cottages we have stayed, there were no other condiments. There are also plenty of games for both children and adults to enjoy. We travelled as a group of friends (5 adults and 2 children aged 2 and 7) and we all loved the cottage and would definitely recommend it. Excellent value. Pubs to recommend in the local area.. Crown Inn in Whitchurch and Old Court Hotel in Symmonds Yat.
“Fabulous home from home”
We arrived tired after a frustrating journey in the pouring rain but felt immediately happy and at home in this lovely house. Great idea to welcome us with edible treats. It was very clean and nicely presented with lovely homely touches - tasteful art and nice furniture. The beds were a good quality with cotton sateen sheets. Our party of 8 had plenty of space in the sitting/ dining area and in their spacious bedrooms, the extra nursery room with cot would be good idea too if you needed that too. The garage easily held our 5 bikes and kayak which was helpful. Our dog came too though he wasn't allowed upstairs with a helpful stair gate there were dog treats too for him on arrival. Only slight point would be fridge small for the 8 (3 adults and 5 teens) and slight shortage of big saucepans etc, but nice to have electric whisk and plenty of mugs! There is a rain shower in main bathroom which was great. The location was good - close to Monmouth with nice local shops, Waitrose and Lidl. Also easy trip up to Ross on Wye because of proximity to A40. So much to do round the area. I wish we could have stayed for 2 weeks.
I am really pleased you enjoyed your stay. I have now put in an extra larder fridge and also bought another large saucepan, so hopefully that will make things easier for future guests. It was great to see the garage so full of bikes etc, it is just what I hoped it would be used for! Hope to see you again Katie
“Lovely Place to stay, very convenient for the Forest of Dean”
It was lovely to be welcomed with a home made strawberry cake and basics to keep us going. The cottage has everything you need and is a very relaxing place to spend a holiday in this area. Katie was on hand to help with anything we needed. We came for a walking and cycling holiday and will be coming again.
Really pleased you enjoyed yourselves. Since your stay have have included new maps of walks and bike rides to Symonds Yat where you will find the Old Ferrie Inn and the Saracens Head, both great local pubs. I have also passed on your thanks to Woods of Whitchurch who bake our wonderful cakes! Hope to see you again before too long. Katie
“Excellent accommodation and a very relaxing break”
Really lovely accommodation. Greeted by an extremely helpful very friendly owner with a lovely welcome pack with a gorgeous home made Victoria sponge cake. The house was very clean and homely.. Immaculate and spacious accommodation which had been renovated to very high standards. Plenty of living/ entertaining space for a group with a large kitchen/family room and a games room for the kids, Nice sunny garden with a stunning view of the forest fenced all around so safe for the dog, the cottage is located on a quiet country lane, so nice and peaceful :) So glad we booked our holiday at The cottage.. Would definitely recommend this holiday property to friends and family Thankyou for a lovely stay! We will be back in the future
“Stunning house in beautiful location!”
I would like to say home from home but this was so much nicer! Beautifully decorated and furnished, well equipped stayed with 2 young children, myself and husband and grandparents everyone loved it! Great walking from the doorstep next time we will try kayaking on the Wye. The Forest of Dean has so much to explore and this is the perfect base. The master bedroom is truly stunning more like a luxury hotel than a holiday house.
