Description

Seamoor House is relatively new to the holiday letting market having been extensively refurbished to provide a comfortable, well equipped holiday home for large groups.

A large, detached late Edwardian seaside home with sea views, Seamoor house is situated in the West Cliff area of Whitby on the North Yorkshire coast.

Up to 14 guests can be comfortable accommodated, making it ideal for larger groups of friends or extended family to enjoy a seaside holiday in the summer or a fun filled weekend break any time of the year. Whitby itself has so much to offer - from the obvious delights of beach, harbour and town (all within a few minutes walk), the huge choice of activities in and around the town and the North Yorkshire Moors which are only a short drive away.

There are fabulous coastal walks and picturesque villages such as Robin Hood’s Bay, Staithes, Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Danby nearby.

Refurbished, decorated and furnished as a holiday home - we have tried to create a stylish, comfortable and well equipped holiday home catering for all ages and requirements (including Sky Sports package!) – we hope it is a real home from home for everyone who stays there.

We are happy to welcome well behaved dogs with responsible owners.

Unfortunately Seamoor House is not suitable for stag or hen parties or for large 'events' but please ask the owner if you are uncertain.

There is a large open plan kitchen/diner with patio doors opening onto the rear garden, a new modern white gloss kitchen is fully equipped with loads of storage and work space.

The dining area has a huge sociable extendable table that can comfortably seat up to 14.

A door leads through to a reception/games room at the front of the house with plenty of comfortable seating, an electric fire, large wall mounted flat screen TV with Sky Sports, a PS3, music system and pool table.

The second reception room has further comfy seating for at least 10, electric fire, and second large flat screen TV also with Sky and DVD player.

A bookcase in the hall houses a large selection of books, games and quizzes - there is no excuse for not having enough to do in the house!

The sixth bedroom is on the ground floor at the back of the house and can be used as a third reception room if preferred - it also has a large flat screen Freeview TV and comfortable seating in the form of a daybed. This room also has twin beds and with the day bed can sleep 3 - it has slightly limited hanging but lots of other storage available. There is also a new downstairs shower room next to this bedroom.

Up the Edwardian staircase to the original galleried landing there are 5 double bedrooms (two with sea views) all en suite, one has a bath, all have power showers.

The bedrooms consist of 3 with double beds and 2 with linkable twin -Superking when linked. If needed there is a comfortable chair bed in Bedroom 1 (the 14th sleeping space) a travel cot is available on request (please bring your own bedding) and 2 high chairs and two booster seats are also available.

Outside there is off road parking at the front for 4/5 medium sized cars and also unrestricted parking on the street.

There is a small, secluded, sunny, well established and largely walled garden to the back of the house with garden furniture, bbq and benches for relaxing or dining alfresco. The side gate can be closed and bolted so the garden can be secured completely for dogs and children.

Upon request the large detached garage provides secure storage for guests bikes etc.

A little brick summer house has been turned into a playhouse for the younger guests together with play kitchen, tent and brio train set. A weatherproof table that can also be taken outside for alfresco dining for the kids!

There is loads of space for running around or a game of football on Tuckers Field to the back of the house.

Seamoor House has lovely views from the two rear upstairs bedrooms across Tuckers field and out to sea and it is just a short stroll to the lift or paths that will take you down onto beautiful Whitby beach.

An ideal location means you are only few minutes walk from the heart of Whitby with its harbour, shops, bars, restaurants and station. (NB - the walk back to the house is slightly uphill but taxis are available by the harbour and station for the short ride back if required).

The lovely Pannett Park with its beautiful green spaces, fantastic children's playground and museum is a short stroll away at the end of the road.

A few hundred meters walk in the other direction, towards the sea on West Cliff, sits the Whitby Pavilion which holds a huge range of events throughout the year.

Whitby Leisure centre is tucked behind the house, with fantastic pool and fitness facilities (including Gym, badminton, table tennis and short tennis) and Tuckers Field also houses the Rifle Club and Bowls Club. Whitby Golf Club has a lovely cliff top course open to all and is a mile from Seamoor House.

Interaction with guest

On confirming your booking of the house I will email you the Booking Confirmation, Invoice and Terms and Conditions for your stay. I ask you agree to the Terms and Conditions and supply me with your contact details and guest details. When you have paid the £200 reservation deposit I will confirm receipt by email, I will do the same when you have paid the balance of the rental (which includes the £200 refundable security deposit) and will send you Access instructions (keys are in a keysafe) and Directions together with our Welcome/Information pack which we recommend you read before your stay to help you settle in more quickly. Within a couple of days of your return home we will contact you for bank details for the return of your deposit.

House rules

The House is not suitable for Stag or Hen parties or for groups under 25 years of age. It is also not suitable as a 'party venue' for non residents to attend.
We would ask you to let us know if you have non residents visiting the house.
Up to 2 medium sized dogs are welcome at a charge of £25 per dog. Dogs should not be allowed on the furniture or upstairs and should be clean and dry before coming into the house.
Please do not put anything other than toilet tissue in the toilets, no wipes.

Amazing 6 bedroomed house. The kitchen is fully equipped and the seating in the kitchen/dining area fitted all 13 of us around easily. Lovely sea views from bedroom windows. Would recommend this to family and friends

I booked Seamoor House for a long weekend for a theatre group getaway. There were 11 of us ranging in age from 20's to 70's. The communication from the owners was very quick and easy at all times from booking through to the stay. The house itself was spotlessly clean, extremely well equipped with everything we could possibly need, and a fantastic location - just park up on the spacious car parking area and Whitby is easily accessible by a short walk through the town or along the west cliff. We would all highly recommend Seamoor House though we are tempted to not shout too loud about it and keep this secret gem to ourselves!

Why can't I call Jude (the owner) before booking?

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Jude (the owner) a message.

If Jude (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
