Hanover Cottage is a spacious, 5-bedroom, detached house in the popular coastal resort of Whitby in North Yorkshire. With beautiful enclosed gardens, a large conservatory and private parking for 3-4 cars, it is perfect for family and friends holidaying together. It is ideally located with just a 5-minute walk to the Harbour, beach and array of attractions, shops and eating places Whitby has to offer.

Hanover Cottage comfortably accommodates up to 9 guests on a self-catering basis and we have taken care to provide everything you require for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. We welcome families and we provide additional items such as high chairs, intercom systems and travel cots for babies and young children. We can accept bookings for 10 guests if the 10th guest is an infant requiring a travel cot. A welcome pack of tea, coffee, sugar, milk, bread, jam, biscuits and a bottle of white wine is provided on arrival.

We offer holidays of 7 nights or more all year round, usually starting on a Saturday at 3pm. We do offer shorter breaks at quieter times of the year but they are not available to book more than 12 weeks in advance of arrival. Short breaks at a minimum of 3 nights start on a Friday, Saturday or Monday at 3pm. Our prices start from £150 per night and the prices advertised are for the rental of the whole property and gardens, and not per person. Our prices include unlimited wifi, private parking, gas, electricity, water, towels, duvets, pillows and bed linen.

The house is tastefully decorated and some of the original Victorian and Georgian features remain, such as fireplaces, high ceilings and wooden sash windows. The ground floor comprises of a large, fully equipped kitchen diner (fitted in early 2015) and has everything you require to prepare and enjoy meals. Next to the kitchen, a separate utility area has a washing machine and tumble dryer. Our spacious living room provides a relaxing space, with plenty of comfortable seating, Free-Sat T.V, DVD player, books, games and a docking station. This leads into a large, traditional conservatory with views of the garden. The stunning gardens are ideal for alfresco dining and drinks, with facilities including a BBQ, table, chairs, parasol and bench seat.

We have 1 bedroom located on the ground floor which can be used as a twin or converted to a double on request. This looks onto the front garden and is ideal for our less mobile guests. A adjacent large family bathroom has a bath and separate low-level shower (fitted in March 2015).

A further 4 bedrooms are located on the first-floor. The master bedroom has a king size bed, plenty of storage space and an en-suite bathroom with separate shower and bath (fitted in March 2015). A third bedroom looks onto the front garden and has a double bed and fitted wardrobes. The fourth bedroom also looks onto the front garden and has 2 single beds that can be converted to a super king on request. A bathroom with a shower enclosure is located between bedroom 3 and 4. A fifth smaller bedroom has a single bed and views of Whitby. Good quality bed linen, towels, duvets and pillows are provided, as well as a small selection of toiletries. The house has gas central heating and underfloor heating in the kitchen diner and ground floor bathroom.

Hanover Cottage is located in a residential area and conveniently located on Prospect Hill, which is the route straight into the centre of Whitby. The side of the property is adjacent to the road and the house is slightly elevated, therefore it retains privacy. The gardens to the front and side of the house can be viewed from most of the rooms and are enclosed with hedges and fencing. Ample driveway parking is provided at the rear of the property and the driveway has a 5-bar gate to keep children safe.

Pannett Park is just down the hill, and as well as being a lovely area to stroll through it has a fantastic Maritime adventure playground to suit all ages. Whitby as a town has a rich history, plenty of character and attractions and activities to suit the whole family. Visit the beach, Whitby Abbey, the Whale Jawbone Arch, the museums or take an open top bus tour - it's not surprising that people return to Whitby year after year. There are a good variety of shops, tea rooms, restaurants, take-aways and pubs to choose from and being a seaside resort fish and chips are an absolute must while in Whitby!

Public transport is easily accessed, with bus stops located within 10 metres of the property and the train station is a 5-minute walk away. It you want to explore further afield the nearby smaller coastal resorts of Sandsend and Runswick Bay are well worth a visit, and so are the many scenic villages such as Danby and Goathland in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. You could easily take a day trip to Scarborough or the City of York too.

“Couldn't have been better!”

Myself and 4 friends stayed for a girls weekend, Friday night to Monday morning (although as there was nobody booked in directly after us we were kindly allowed to take our time on Monday which was great). Perfect location just up the hill with bus stops and a very regular bus service right outside the house. Beautiful house, spacious, warm, extremely clean and everything you could think of catered for. Very comfortable rooms, lovely quality bed linen and towels, lots of little extras such as soaps and hand creams. Met on arrival, very welcoming. Really can't fault it, had a brilliant stay.

Wonderful holiday home, brilliant location being 5mins walk from Whitby harbour. House very well equipped and immaculately clean. Delightful private gardens and secure off street parking. Owners friendly and extremely helpful but not obtrusive. Brilliant complimentary welcome pack included wine, gorgeous fresh bread, tea coffee etc. Super house for a group of friends or family, Highly recommended! We hope to return.
