“Beautiful cottage in beautiful surroundings”

Reviewed 14 Apr 2018

Firstly our thanks go to Tricia and Russ for your attention to detail which made our stay even better than anticipated. The cottage is in a beautiful area with fantastic walks along the cinder track to Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay. The cottage itself is immaculate with everything you need for a perfect stay. There was even a welcome pack of groceries on our arrival including milk, orange juice, tea, coffee and biscuits. You can really feel the attention to detail and pride that Tricia and Russ put into making your stay wonderful. Russ and Tricia provide excellent local information on your arrival with a wonderful welcome guide. This includes details of how to get to Whitby and Ruswarp via the cinder track and local places of interest including Malyan Spout and Beck Hole. If you love walking, this is the ideal base for Whitby and the surrounding area. We would thoroughly recommend this cottage to anyone and would like to thank Tricia and Russ for making our stay exceed our expectations.

“Peaceful Gem”

Reviewed 2 Jan 2017

We spent a week over Christmas and really enjoyed this peaceful location. Our stay started off well with a welcoming plate of mince pies (thank you) on the table of the seasonally decorated cottage, with goodies in the fridge and tea/coffee available for a much needed cuppa after fighting the Friday holiday traffic. The cottage is well equipped with all mod cons and has a great view of the river and viaduct. We picked the cottage for its location, letting us take advantage of being able to park the car for a few days and do our sight-seeing of Whitby on foot (we are keen walkers). The cottage is a great base for travelling further afield to places such as Robin Hood's Bay, Snaith and Goathland (Heartbeat). If I feel the need to spend more time in Whitby, I would try to book this cottage again.

Owner's reply: Thank you Mr and Mrs Hutchinson. You are welcome

“Peaceful haven”

We absolutely loved it here. The cottage was cosy, clean and had lots of lovely touches too-the xmas trees & wreath, the welcome mince pies and other items-it was all lovely! It was so peaceful here and we enjoyed walking our dog along the cinder track too. We love Whitby and will DEFINATELY be returning!

Owner's reply: It's really appreciated when our guests take the time to give us feed back, and great to hear that we are doing things right. We like to leave the cottage as we would like it to be for ourselves, so it's a real pleasure when we hear others enjoy it too. Thanks you.

“WONDERFUL AND PEACEFUL LOCATION”

Reviewed 14 Jun 2015

We spent a lovely week at this cottage. The cottage was well equipped and very comfortable in a wonderful location. Able to walk into Whitby easily without using our car. What a joy watching the steam trains on the other side of the river from out of the windows! Also saw a seal in the river!

“Sanctuary”

A lovely three storey cottage. Location secluded - steep slope to cinder path but worth it. Everything provided bar towels. Too many 'personal' items left in the cottage for our taste - felt we were intruding somehow.

“peaceful secluded homely place to stay”

The property Is part of a bigger complex but doesn't feel like it. On arrival we found it exceptionally clean, very tastefully furnished and accessorised, and it gave us an instant feeling of relaxation, just what we were wanting from it. The close proximity to the river is a calming influence. As a self catering property very little is not provided. The wildlife around is a pleasure to see. There were Ducks, a Heron and a Grebe on the River, Rabbits in the back garden and tracks where Deer roam. We had 3 nights and were very reluctant to leave. Will certainly visit again.

“relaxing and peaceful holiday cottage”

Reviewed 16 Nov 2013

We were amazed just how nice the cottage was, well decorated and very homely. The welcome pack was a delightful extra as a cuppa on arrival was most welcome after a drive from Gloucestershire. There was even milk in the fridge. A truly quiet relaxing break which was very much enjoyed. Will definitely go back there.

“A Superb Cottage set in a fantastic location.”

Reviewed 22 Aug 2013

The Property was very clean, had all the home comforts you could wish for and was set in a most beautiful location, It was very peaceful and quiet. Only a 5 minute drive into Whitby or you could walk along the cinder path which took around 15 minutes. It was lovely to watch the Steam Trains go past on the other side of the river, My husband was like a big kid, he made a note of the train times and when we were in the property he would be out with his camera to take photos as it went by! There is a sainsburys supermarket just near by to do a food shop should you so wish. I cannot say anything negative about this property and we would gladly stay there again. Nice to see the lovely wildlife along the river bank too.

“MY FEW DAYS OF HEAVEN !!”

Reviewed 16 Jun 2013

Well what can I say ......................... Stunning, Peaceful, Tranquill location, stunning views from every window. The steam train across the Esk was a wonderful sight to see. The cottage was spotless and clean, and had a well equipped kitchen for your every day needs. Even the ten minute walk into Whitby was a pleasure to do, going over the via duct and along a ashen track. We have stayed in central Whitby in cottages numerous times, but we definitely preferred this quiet, peaceful haven. And if you want to visit nearby places, its just a short drive in the car to Robin Hoods Bay, Sandsend, Runswick Bay, Goathland ect There was ample parking, and the whole site it well maintained with manicured lawns, with not one drop of rubbish in sight. Myself and my partner had a truly relaxing few days. We will be Back !!!!

“Excellent accommodation and location for a peaceful vacation”

Reviewed 29 Apr 2013

This lovely homely cottage has everything you would need for a peaceful vacation, within easy walking distance over the impressive viaduct to Whitby or surrounding villages, we even walked to Robin Hoods Bay only 6 miles away! Lovely views of the tidal river, and the passing Steam trains (we recommend this, well worth the money). Thank you for sharing your well equipped comfortable home, we had a wonderful time.
