Location description from owner

The England region

The Isle of Wight is located in the English Channel just off the mainland of England and can be reached from the ferry ports of Southampton, Portsmouth and Lymington. It is one of the sunniest parts of the UK and popular with holiday makers. In recent years many festivals and events have proved popular. Sailing and family holidays have been the tradition, but now include walking, cycling and music festivals, to name but a few.

Visit the many Island attractions, enjoy the sandy beaches, walk the downs.

Whippingham

Whippingham is the nearest small village and boasts a wonderful riverside pub and St Mildred's, Queen Victoria's local church when in residence at Osborne house. Whippingham has good conections to all parts of the Island. For walkers and cyclists there are various routes available on paths and smaller roads. The nearest town is East Cowes, 2km approx. with a range of shops including a large supermarket. Taking the chain ferry across the River Medina from East Cowes brings to the centre of sailing, Cowes. You will find a pretty high street with boutiques, and many eating and drinking opportunities. The Isle of Wight is about 30 miles wide, so you are never going to be far from home. There are good beaches, interesting places to visit and if you come for only one week you will have to return to finish your tour!

“Fantastic family holiday!”

Reviewed 1 Sep 2016

Stayed for a week and had the most amazing time, couldn't ask for better accommodation and attention to detail. Shelley and Paul were friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The swimming pool was the highlight of the week, perfectly clean and warm in a lovely sunny secluded garden that was beautifully maintained and much larger than we expected. A good location to get out and about on the island but a car is essential. Walked to The Folly a couple of times and thoroughly enjoyed it there especially the live music night! So impressed we booked up before we even left, but for two weeks next year along with the grandparents in the adjacent cabin. Can't wait to go back!

“Superb!”

This is a real hidden gem, as are the the owners! From start to finish they made us feel most welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them. The cottage was absolutely delightful and the 30ft. swimming pool was immaculately clean and warm and a definite added bonus. The accommodation is spacious, comfortable and well appointed (we ALL enjoyed the electric reclining chairs!). We were fortunate enough to have been able to extend our stay by one extra night but I can honestly say that none of us wanted to leave! We are all longing to return soon!
