“Amazing views”

Reviewed 19 Apr 2021

Let me start by saying I have never stayed in a cottage with such amazing views. The hosts were so friendly and welcoming they were on hand if you needed them. The cottage itself is simply lovely and spotless everything you could imagine for a self catering break Is in that cottage right down to binoculars to enjoy the stunning scenery. If you have a dog there is a field for your use only our dog loved it So did I as the views were even better from there. The bed was the comfiest I have slept in away from home.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your kind comments. So glad you enjoyed your stay. Would be lovely to see you again.

“Welcome Home from Home Retreat”

Reviewed 28 Feb 2021

From the first contact with Mary the owner everything has be easy. We needed a temporary place to stay whilst our house purchase went through ( in line with Covid rules). Arrived quite late to fresh scones and a bottle of bubbly, so thoughtful as was my birthday. The cottage has everything you need and more. Maps, dishwasher, plenty of pots , tv, milk on arrival, chess board in garden, soft towels.......Modern kitchen and bathroom, all super clean. We even had place to store our bikes so could take advantage of the rolling hills near the cottage. Secure parking for 2 cars and fresh laid eggs just across the road. Very peaceful location but only 10 minutes away from Matlock which has everything you need. Great log burner and balcony to take in the views. Would not hesitate to recommend.

Owner's reply: It was lovely to meet you. Hope you settle happily in your new home. Thanks for the kind comments.

“EXCELLENT LOCATION AND ACCOMMODATION”

Reviewed 17 Aug 2020

Just got back from having an amazing stay at Cruck Barn with my partner and dog. Mary and Ray were very warm and welcoming to us, with also the nice surprise of having scones and cream waiting for us in kitchen when we arrived. Beautiful location and facilities at the property for us and the dog. Would definitely recommend!

Owner's reply: Thank you for your kind comments, Looking forward to seeing you again.

“Comfortable, scenic, tranquil, great hosts”

Reviewed 13 Aug 2020

We spent an enjoyable few days at the Cruck Barn. Mary and Ray, our hosts, met us on arrival and showed us where everything was and how things worked. The cottage was well equipped, comfortably furnished, and interesting, in a quirky way. Views from the upstairs balcony, as well as from the private field, were outstandingly panoramic. There was a patio area with a barbecue, a giant chessboard and a children’s play area. Unusually for us, we didn’t use the bbq because the nearest hostelry, the White Hart, was ideal for our evening meals. It was dog friendly, the food was tasty and well presented, and reasonably COVID safe. Wheatcroft is well positioned for exploring the delights of the region. We will certainly return at some point, and have no hesitation in recommending this delightful, good value, rental. Thank you Mary and Ray, it was a pleasure meeting you and we hope to visit again soon. R & P
