Getting around

A car is necessary from the Barn, but buses and trains are readily available from Matlock

Interaction with guest

I like to be here to hand over keys and explain how everything works. I can give information about places to eat and drink and to visit. if required. There is a lot of information about the surrounding area in the Barn especially local walks.

A lovely short break for us and our dog. Beautiful property and surrounding area with helpful hosts. We loved everything about our stay except the snow!! We would definitely recommend the Cruck Barn and wouldn’t hesitate to book again ourselves too.

Owner's reply: Yes, the weather was not kind to you. We really look forward to seeing you again

Absolutely superb accommodation extremely comfortable and well equipped. Everything you need for a truly relaxing break. Well situated to get to popular attractions whilst being away from the maddening crowd. Fantastic wellcome from Mary and Ray. Would highly recommend definitely will return.

Owner's reply: So glad you enjoyed your break. Looking forward to seeing you again.

We have just stayed here for a couple of nights. The owners were there to greet us on arrival and had also prividet fresh scones which was a lovely touch. The cottage had everything you needed and The views and surroundings were beautiful. My little girl loved visiting the sheep in the nearby field. Also great location for visiting matlock which is a short drive away. Thanks for a pleasent stay.

Owner's reply: Glad you enjoyed your short stay. Hope to see you again.

An excellent place to stay - great value for money too. It's very clean and organised and it is in a beautiful, very remote area. The owners also go above and beyond to make your stay a pleasant one. We hope to return again in the summer, after our 'winter stay'. - Lee

Owner's reply: Glad you enjoyed your stay. Looking forward to your return.

I surprised the girlfriend with a weekend away to propose to her. It went very well and she said yes but the setting and location and facilities in and out the cottage were fantastic. The kitchen is modern and of great quality and has everything you need, the second night we put the log burner on whilst having a romantic meal. The bonus was the bedroom which was like a main living room with sofas and then the balcony with the lovely views. We enjoyed breakfast out on the balcony both morning which was a great way to start the day. Mary agreed to pop in and switch on the decorations I bought to surprise by now fiancée just prior to us arriving which was very good of her. The stay was fantastic and would highly recommend and will deffo visit again for another break. Great for our little dog too who loved exploring the paddock. It felt very safe with the electric gates and was extremely peaceful and quiet throughout our entire stay. Lastly the home made scones and jam were better than the ones I brought from marks and Spencer's, so big thumbs up.

Owner's reply: So glad she said yes. You will be very welcome at a future date.
