Location description from owner

The England region

After experiencing a comfortable night's sleep and our gourmet food at breakfast, you can further enhance your stay in Dorset at other high quality, nationally renown restaurants, specialising in locally caught fish and shell fish, local meats and produce. We would be pleased to book for you. There are also many Italian, Indian and Chinese cuisine restaurants. See Crab House Cafe, Hix Oyster & Fishhouse and Hive Beach Café.

Pubs & Restaurants:

There are many pubs within 15 minutes drive, that serve 'guest ales' and have restaurants gardens and welcome visitors. We would be happy to make bookings on your behalf, something you may want to consider for your first night.

Beaches, Water Sports & Golf

Beaches and water sports are abundant within short distances and golf courses at Came Down, Isle of Purbeck, East Dorset, and 2 others are all within a 15 mile radius. The 2012 Olympic Sailing venue is nearby.

Other local attractions:

.. include The Tank Museum, Monkey World, Hardy's Cottage & the Lawrence of Arabia’s Cottage at Bovington

Walking & Exploring Dorset:

Walks from the door will take you to the many local footpaths and bridleways through to, and along the coast including the Heritage Jurassic coastal path. These trackways will provide views of deer, hare, sheep and cattle which are often in the valleys and on the hillsides. Overhead there are many examples of birds of prey including buzzard, sparrow hawk, and even a peregrine falcon or two if you are lucky!

There are several ancient barrows and long disused farm dwellings. The views from the top of the hills between Lime Tree Lodge and the cliffs are spectacular, reaching inland as far as the hills beyond Yeovil and Blandford, to the New Forest, Isle of Wight and Portland Bill.

Market Towns:

To the west is the county town of Dorchester, 6 miles, with its large weekly market, museums and Roman remains. To the south west is Weymouth, 8 miles, with wide sandy beach and numerous pubs and restaurants, geared for tourism.

To the east, the large village of Wool and the main Waterloo to Weymouth line station is 7 miles. The market town of Wareham is 14 miles and the maritime town of Poole with its beaches at Sandbanks and Brownsea Island is 20 miles.

Moreton, 2 miles to the north has also a main line Waterloo to Weymouth station. We can arrange pickup up, should you decide to leave your car at home.
