Golden Bay Holiday Village is set beside the blue flag award winning beach 'Golden Bay' of Westward Ho! The award winning beach is a family friendly, sandy beach which is backed by the famous pebble ridge and Northam Burrows Country Park. Westward Ho! beach offers the best of both sand, rock pools and nature. There is a RNLI lifeguard service available from May to September and the beach is popular with kite surfers, surfers and swimmers. The wonderful surf that runs on to Westward Ho! draws surfers from miles around and with designated surfing and craft areas the beach caters for all ages.The pebble ridge at the back of the beach is a famous area of outstanding natural beauty that is part of the Northam Burrows Country Park Reserve which also doubles as the home of the Royal North Devon Golf Course. The Royal North Devon Golf Course at Westward Ho! can claim rightly to be the cradle of English golf, founded in 1864, it is the oldest golf course in the country. The course is as tough as any of the UK's better known links and it features in the Golf World's top 100 courses in the world that every golfer 'must play'.

Westward Ho

The village of Westward Ho! is a short stroll along the promenade, there are many eateries, a deli, bakery, a small supermarket, a few independent shops, traditional amusement arcades, a few pubs and two cafes which serve delicious Devon cream teas. The restaurants have a wide choice of cuisine from Thai to traditional fish and chips. There are watersport schools on the Golden Bay beach which offer kite surfing and paddle boarding equipment to hire. Also there is a surf school on the beach which offers lessons to complete beginners. Other action packed activities in and around Westward Ho! include coasteering, kayaking, paintballing, quad biking and horse riding.The holiday village is within close proximity to historic shopping towns of Bideford and Barnstaple and the quaint fishing harbour of Clovelly.There are plenty of family theme parks to enjoy whatever the weather. Within a 15 minute drive you will find the Big Sheep and the Milky Way, all weather attractions that are full of animals, shows, rides and indoor play areas. A little further afield you will find Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park, Exmoor Zoo and Watermouth castle.Golden Bay Holiday Village is a short stroll from the South West Coastal Path which provides 630 miles of coastal scenery and wildlife. You can enjoy this unique path and natural environment by foot or bike.
