Location description from owner

The East Anglia region

West Runton is an ideal base from which to explore the beautiful north Norfolk coast, woodlands, market towns and villages. This pretty village is situated between the coast on one side and acres of National Trust woodland on the other – there are marked paths to allow you to walk to both Sheringham and Cromer. The railway station in the centre of the village runs a service to Norwich (calling at Wroxham on the Norfolk Broads), Sheringham and Cromer.

West Runton

West Runton has many amenities including a very good local (The Village Inn) which is dog friendly. There is also a small supermarket, post office, newsagent and camp shop. The beach at West Runton is a mix of sand and pebble, with superb rock pooling when the tide is out. The railway station in the centre of the village runs a service to Norwich (calling at Wroxham on the Norfolk Broads), Sheringham and Cromer. In Aylmerton, in easy walking distance is the Roman Camp noted for its pretty gardens and good food. There are expansive sandy beaches with award winning blue flag ones at Cromer and Sheringham. At Holkham and Wells - next - the sea, pine woods edge the sand dunes, historic harbour villages such as Blakeney, Cley -next-the sea, Salthouse, Morston and Brancaster Staithe. To the East there are the villages of Overstrand, Mundesley with further gorgeous beaches. The seal population at Blakeney Point can be visited by boat from Morston and Blakeney. A trip on the North Norfolk Railway is a must – not only does it pass through some of Norfolk’s most beautiful countryside but it allows you to explore two of Norfolk’s most popular towns – Sheringham and Holt.Just through Weybourne is the Muckleborough Collection, which is the UK's largest privately owned working military museum.About a mile away is the National Trust's Felbrigg Hall with its lovely house, orangery and lakeside walk. Within a twenty minute drive is one of the Trust's flagship properties, Blickling Hall and Sandringham is nearby. If you're looking for theatres, try the Pavillion Theatre at the end of Cromer pier, famous for it's annual End of the pier summer show. The Little Theatre at Sheringham or the Auden Theatre in Holt or the Theatre Royal in Norwich.A short drive lies the Norfolk Broads, Britain's finest inland waterway. An extensive network of rivers and shallow broads with small villages can be visited by car but it's best discovered by boat. Day boats can be hired from one of the many boatyards.

“A lovely comfortable cottage”

Reviewed 21 Oct 2015

This was our second visit to Jasmine cottage and we are sure that it will not be our last. The location is perfect for a quiet and peaceful holiday but also within easy reach of places to visit. We liked the fact that we could go for a good walk with our dog without having to use the car. The cottage itself is beautifully furnished and has all the equipment needed. A welcome pack with a delicious homemade cake is there on arrival. The shower pump was not very effcient which was the only downside to what we consider is one of the best cottages we have stayed in.

“absolutley great”

Reviewed 3 Oct 2014

everything was wonderful, very clean & comfortable, a great welcome pack, will hopefully go again, the owners did not bother us, everything we needed was available, good fenced garden for the dog. good parking for the car.

So glad you enjoyed your two week stay at Jasmine cottage and look forward to seeing you again.

“A very enjoyable stay”

Our second visit to this propery, and, like the first time, did not disappoint. Lovely surroundings, very clean and comfortable accommodation. Owners friendly and helpful. Not forgetting the very generous welcome pack!

“A Magical Week”

Reviewed 30 Apr 2014

We had a most wonderful, relaxing week in Jasmine Cottage - it is such a comfortable and cosy cottage, well furnished, clean and well kept. The welcome pack was lovely, as were the vase of deliciously scented lillies. Although we had no car, we had no trouble organising local taxis to take us to and from the train station and we made the walk from the cottage to both West and East Runton villages/beaches numerous times, either going through the woods, or down Sandy Lane, with a 6 year old with us too. The woodlands around are lovely to explore, as are the beaches and we had a great day out at Hillside Horse Sanctuary in West Runton. Again, not having a car, we were able to use Tesco grocery delivery for our shopping for the week, but otherwise, there are supermarkets in both Cromer and Sheringham, which are about 3 miles away. The trains run hourly from West Runton station, going to either Sheringham (which we plan to explore next time) and to Cromer (which we had a lovely day out to) and through to Norwich, which takes about an hour. The Castle museum in Norwich is well worth a visit. There is lots more we wanted to do and we will definitely be back next year - just waiting to find out school holiday dates and we will be making our booking!

Thank you so much for your lovely review of Jasmine cottage, great you enjoyed the cottage and the area and we hope to see you all again. Best wishes Mark

“FABULOUS LUXURY YET HOMELY RETREAT”

Reviewed 8 Jan 2014

This Cottage is in a fantastic location yet tucked away. It is spacious and warm with a lovely secure garden as we had small dogs with us so were not worried about them getting out and wondering off. The owners although on hand if needed respect the privacy of the holiday makers. This is the second time we have stayed here and the little things are such a god send when you have travelled. Home baked cake waiting, welcome essentials. Lovely bedding in such a comfortable surrounding. Would have NO Hesitation in recommending this place to anyone. Norfolk is such a beautiful place to visit and this is a lovely place to stay. Five Stars from us.

Was a pleasure to see you all again and so glad you enjoyed your stay. Hope to see you again. Best Wishes Mark & Juliet.

“Just what we needed”

Reviewed 21 Sep 2013

This was just what we needed - excellent facilities and a home from home; we had a good rest and for Zak (the dog) it was his first holiday. I am sure Zak would love to come back - as we would too!

“Relaxing, welcoming, beautiful settings.”

Reviewed 25 Aug 2013

What a fantastic place well worth a stay very well equipped. The welcome pack was great especially the bread and lemon cake. Plenty of lovely walks nearby. A lovely quite place if you just want to recharge your batteries. We will be going back in the future.

“great for walks in national trust forest and coast”

spacious and well equipped and very clean accommodation, garage shop and pub/hotel 500 yards away the welcome pack of home made bread and lemon cake was delicious.strong shoes or walking boots recommended for hilly woods

“Our annual Spring/Summer break.”

Reviewed 19 May 2013

Jasmine Cottage was probably, if not the best, certainly one of the best holiday homes we have experienced. The only minor whinge concerned the skinny bath and hand towels, had we known the situation we would have taken our own, but this was only a small issue. The location is ideal for touring, walks, beaches, shopping, eating and drinking out. The things we liked best about the cottage were the cleanliness, comfort and privacy. We liked least the towels as stated and the weather. Although it was bitterly cold outside we were very warm and snug inside.

“Lovely cottage in peaceful location”

Reviewed 26 Apr 2013

Lovely well equipped cottage in peaceful location. Nice private garden off road parking may not suit people with limited mobility due to bathroom arrangements (no shower cubicle)
