It rests comfortably in one of those hidden valleys of rural Somerset where the only traffic noise you'll ever hear is the clip clop of the occasional horse or perhaps the postman's van. Set in the rural centre of the triangle that is formed by Wells, Shepton Mallet and Glastonbury, The Stable will welcome you and your family to a comfortable country retreat which you can use to relax or as a base to explore the interesting surrounding area. There are many wonderful attractions within striking distance of At the Farm. You can marvel at the magnificent cathedral in England's smallest city, Wells, or browse the famous antique markets held at the Royal Bath and West showground several times a year. This part of Somerset is steeped in history with Glastonbury one of the nearest and most famous points of interest. Legend has it that King Arthur was buried in the Abbey and there is certainly something mysterious about the place and a climb up the Tor, which you can see from the estate, will not be forgotten. In the neighboring village of Pilton other legends perform to a vast and appreciative crowd and the Glastonbury Festival has worldwide fame. Wookey Hole Caves and Longleat are both within easy reach and famous centres for all the family to enjoy. Bath is less than an hours drive. So whether it's a long or short holiday, a visit to one of the local schools or a stopover on business, At the Farm will provide the accommodation you need.

Location description from owner

The England region

Wookey Hole Caves and Longleat are both within easy reach and famous centres for all the family to enjoy. There are probably too many pubs and restaurants to choose from. These will vary from the back of beyond spit and sawdust Somerset cider houses with shove-halfpenny boards and strange sounding locals to Farrow and Ball gastro delights serving fine fresh cooked feasts with wine to match. We’ll be happy to point you in the right direction for your particular pallet and pocket.

So whether it’s a long or short holiday, a visit to one of the local schools or a stop over on business, The Knowle Estate will provide the accommodation you need.

“A perfect off-the-beaten track location with excellent facilities and comfort, within easy reach of a wide range of visi”

Reviewed 17 Apr 2014

This cottage ticked all the boxes: clean, tastefully furnished, with friendly and helpful owners. We chose this place for its out-of-the-way location, yet within easy reach of our two main visits: Stonehenge and Glastonbury. I recommend this accommodation without reservation.

“Idyllic location - perfect for a weekend away!”

Reviewed 11 Jun 2013

We stayed for two nights and brought our dog with us. The cottage is perfect for a weekend away and is surrounded by lots of fields and countryside which is great for walking the dog. The area would be good for young children too. The cottage was very clean and had everything we needed and the courtyard garden is a sun-trap! The property is located in West Compton which is near to the main towns of Wells and Cheddar, both of which are easily accessible. Would recommend visiting Hecks Cider in Street which is very cheap and a day trip to Cheddar. The owners made us feel very welcome and we would love to go back!
