ONLY 45 MINUTES DIRECTLY TO GLASGOW CITY CENTRE ON THE TRAIN AND ONLY 30 MILES BY CAR TO GLASGOW
Wemyss Bay is an attractive coastal village about 7 miles from Greenock and Largs and approximately 30 miles from Glasgow. From its pretty Victorian station, considered one of Scotland's finest architecturally, trains to Glasgow take just 45 minutes.
Also 45 minutes away, by ferry, is the Isle of Bute. If you'd like to explore a larger island, the Arran ferry leaves from Ardrossan; or a smaller, the little Cumbrae ferry makes the short crossing from Largs frequently. Dunoon on the Cowal Peninsula is just under an hour from Gourock. Staying on the water, the marinas at Largs, Inverkip and Troon offer charters or sail training and all have good restaurants.
Back on dry land there are many beautiful walks in and close to Wemyss Bay, among them the Greenock Cut, rated as one of the top 50 walks in Scotland. From Greenock it's a fairly level 7 miles, with some spectacular panoramic views over the Firth of Clyde or you could start off at Wemyss Bay and walk from there, adding an extra 3 miles, have coffee at the visitor centre along the way, finish at Drumfrochar Station and catch a train back.

"Heaven in Scotland"
This has to be the most beautiful place you could ever wish to stay. Fantastic views and an amazing house. We were here for New Year and every thing was just perfect. Linda who is near by was amazing with help and advice and Beth gave us so much help with our booking. Both these ladies were so helpful throughout our stay. Every thing you need is in the house, from wonderful large bedrooms to the kitchen which is also terrific. The massive lounge at the front of the house with views down the Clyde tho have to be the best you good ever wish for and we all hope to visit again soon.
Thanks so much for your great review. We are delighted that you loved Northcliff Manor and would happily welcome you and your family back again anytime. Many thanks Beth

We stayed at Northcliff Manor villa on Christmas day. It is a spacious vila with a lovely lay out and a wonderful view of the Wemyss bay to look at. Linda our host was very helpful in giving us directions before the arrival and she also provide us with anything we asked for during our stay. She is a wonderful lady who made our stay even more pleasant. The only downside for us was the lack or very little soaps and liquid hand wash through out the house, we had to use and share our own body wash and soups through out our stay. I’m sure if we would have asked Linda she would have provided us with plenty soaps but we didn’t want to bother Linda too much. We all had a great time staying at Northcliff Manor Vila, it was a perfect place for our family Christmas!

"An ideal holiday to see in 2014"
Spent 5 days at Northcliff Manor over the festive period and our party of 8 had a fantastic time. The house is very grand with 4 spacious double bedrooms. This stay was one of the few times I've been away and we didn't have to draw names for the best rooms as they were all equally good. The kitchen was big enough to allow us all the chance to pitch in our culinary skills at dinner and the dining table in the living room meant we could sit together at meal times. The house was spotless and there was the nice touch with the Christmas decorations which added to the homely feel. The picturesque views from the front of the house are marvellous, both during the day and night A special mention to Nick and Linda who were very accommodating and we were grateful to Nick for taking the time to drop us off at the Chartroom so we could be at our Hogmanay dinner dance on time. Overall we had a brilliant time and all agreed it was an ideal place to spend our holiday. Tentative discussions have even taken place about a return visit later on this year!
