Our charming holiday cottage is set in a beautiful rural location; lots of fresh air, farmland and farm animals with great walks and country pubs on the doorstep – always a good combination for keeping children, and parents amused.

Our charming holiday cottage is set in a beautiful rural location; lots of fresh air, farmland and farm animals with great walks and country pubs on the doorstep – always a good combination for keeping children, and parents amused.

The cottage itself has many lovely attributes. On the ground floor is the beamed living/dining-room with open inglenook fireplace, exposed stone walls and stone mullion windows, as well as TV, DVD and IPod dock; well-equipped kitchen with fridge, freezer, gas hob, electric oven and microwave; and utility room with washing-machine and dishwasher.

A beautiful stone spiral staircase leads up to the first floor to the 2 large double bedrooms and bathroom with WC, washbasin, bath and separate shower cubicle. Again, beams, mullion windows and charming features in abundance!

The cottage sleeps 4 (plus cot) in two bedrooms comprising 1 with king size double bed, and the other which can either be made up as a super king size double, or with 2 twin single beds. The cottage is therefore ideal for both families with children, or for couples trying to escape them!

Children of all ages are welcome at East Cottage. We provide a travel cot, stair-gates and high chair, as well as an 'essentials baby box' – just in case you forget anything – plus baby-changing mat and baby bath. There is also a toy box and a selection of games, jigsaws, books and DVDs.

The cottage has gas central heating and free Wi-Fi. Towels are provided, as well as tea-towels, toiletries, quality bed linen and a supply of logs for cosy nights in by the fire. We also provide a welcome basket containing tea, coffee, milk, sugar and cake.

In the courtyard to the right of East Cottage are 2 parking spaces for the exclusive use of guests. Behind the courtyard, a small flight of steps leads to the private, secluded and walled garden, which comprises lawned areas, herbaceous borders and a south-facing patio, ideal for sun-bathing as well as 'al fresco' dining. We also provide a barbeque and a supply of charcoal.

The cottage is about 100 yards walking distance of the village shop (recently voted best village shop in the South West!), which sells wonderful local produce. By prior arrangement with us they will provide a locally sourced breakfast hamper, containing everything you'll need to prepare the perfect West Country breakfast.

The village pub, 'The George Inn' is just 150 yards walk from the cottage and offers a friendly welcome, roaring log fires in the winter and relaxing beer garden with children's area in the warmer months. This CAMRA award winning pub serves quality food prepared from the best fresh, local ingredients, cooked to order. All food is homemade, including the delicious puddings and ice creams. Organic, vegetarian, game and fresh fish specials complement the regular menu. Specific dietary needs are catered for too. There is also a great selection of other country pubs nearby serving excellent, locally sourced food, not to mention the vast choice of eateries just a short drive away in Wells and Bath.

Located on the A371 just east of the cathedral city of Wells and within easy reach of Cheddar Gorge and Caves, Glastonbury, Longleat, Stourhead Gardens, the regional capital Bristol, Shepton Mallet Showground, Wookey Hole, Clarke's Village, the Mendip Hills and Somerset Coast and of course the world heritage city of Bath, with National Trust properties and areas of outstanding natural beauty just a short drive away, Croscombe is the ideal location from which to explore this beautiful region. We are also only 30 minutes away from Bristol Airport and close to the popular wedding venues of The Bishop's Palace at Wells and Charlton House and Kilver Court in Shepton Mallet.

In high season the cottage is let on a weekly basis Saturday to Saturday. However we also offer short breaks. Please email or phone direct for tariff and seasonal offers.

We look forward to welcoming you soon!
