Description

Get away from civilization and back to nature in this immaculate European style cabin on very pretty and remote Charlie Lake. Can sleep up to 6, but is the perfect romantic spot for two.

SPRING, SUMMER and FALL

The lake is spring fed, it's clean, refreshing and perfect for a swim, kayak, canoe or paddle board. The lake tends to warm up quicker (and stay warmer longer) than most, so spring and fall swims are common here. Relax on the deck with your morning coffee or sit lakeside in the Adirondack chairs. Explore on a hike, fish off the dock, bbq up dinner, then stargaze and share stories by the fire pit. It is simple, peaceful and quiet here.

Loons live on this lake. Daily sightings are common, and to hear their call echoing off the mountains is a surreal experience! Owls heard often as well.

Hiking opportunities abound, we supply specific directions to our favorite waterfalls and special spots, some a simple walk from the cabin!

This is a small, private, non-motorboat lake. Very private spring, fall and winter (mostly just summer camps here). Summer is busier but still very quiet. Our neighbors enjoy the peace as well, and we'd like to keep them happy, so this is NOT the place for a party or loud music.

We supply one canoe, one kayak, one stand up paddle board and lake floats. Watercraft is available for use Apr 30-Oct 30.

WINTER

This is a great spot for skiers, snowmobilers, cross country and snowshoe enthusiasts! This cabin was built to take advantage of the beautiful winters here. Very private, you will have the lake mostly to yourselves. There may be a random ice fisher person on the other side of the lake, this lake is known for it's fishing.

Snowmobiling - we are right on the snowmobile trail, no need to haul sleds anywhere. Snowmobile rentals nearby or bring your own. Thousands of miles of trails from here to Canada! We are on a lesser used trail, so it is not noisy here.

Skiing - fabulous, fun, family friendly local Oak Ski Mountain is just 10 minutes away. A unique small town mountain with big ideas, they have sledding and other winter activities for the kids, great food, fun bar and live music! Gore is 40 minute drive. Lapland Lake is one of the best cross country ski resorts in the east, 30 minute drive, Garnett Hiil is also amazing, about 1 hour drive.

Snowshoes - we supply 4 sets - take them across the lake or venture out onto the trails and through the woods!

Hiking - we supply a list of fun winter hikes, including a few local waterfalls which are beautiful in winter.

MORE ABOUT THIS CABIN

There are 3 bedrooms. Upstairs is an open loft bedroom with queen mattress which is a sleep number so you can adjust firmness on both sides to make both happy! Downstairs are two bedrooms, each with one double bed, one has a single loft bunk, for a total of 4 beds. There is one bathroom (shower only), indoor wood fireplace, outdoor fire pit (may not be available if too much snow).

The deck sits right over the lake, the view is beautiful. We recently added a hand crafted bar to the deck, perfect for enjoying that morning cup of coffee or afternoon snack while gazing over the lake. The front yard has a sandy entrance to lake with dock great for children and perfect for a swim.

The view across the lake is of wooded land and mountains, just a few houses in sight. Comes with Weber charcoal grill, we have an exceptional chefs kitchen with Viking gas stove and convection oven, dishwasher, good dishes and very high quality pots and pans. High speed internet and a landline provided (no cell service here!). Huge flat screen TV for watching Netflix movies, but no cable. Dine at the table for 6 with lake view or eat lakeside on the picnic table. Front lawn has adirondack chairs for drinking in the piece and quiet and the views, more seating found around the fire pit.

What's to LOVE? The house has amazing views, is quiet, charming and eco friendly, cabin is new and kept in immaculate condition so even the most discerning should be very pleased. Great privacy for a waterfront home, and on a unusually peaceful mountain lake. We supply detailed lists of where to go and what do to in the area, and the house is very well stocked with things to make your stay easy and breezy - just bring food and we do ask you to bring your own towels.

What might you NOT Love? The well water has naturally occurring iron (minerals) in it which turns it a slight yellow color. The eco friendly waterfront septic is too sensitive to allow for use of a washer/dryer - so we don't have them. We provide nice quality linens for the beds, bath mats, hand and kitchen towels, but ask guests to please bring their own bath and beach towels, or, for an additional cleaning fee, we will supply bath towels. There is a laundromat down the road a bit.

Also, RECYCLES are a real hassle here. Guests who choose to stay here must agree to take out what they bring in, with the exception of small amounts (less than 1 bag full).

This is a NO SMOKING, NO PETS (no exceptions, sorry!), NO LOUD NOISE, allergen free home. Due to the quiet nature of this lake, we ask that guests refrain from outside music or any loud disturbances, particularly at night - sounds carry easily across lake, disturbing others. This is a great place to find some peace and quiet.

We have many return guests, so if you like it here and want to come back, we offer reduced rates during our non peak dates to our repeat guests.
