“Cosy welcoming house full of character & history”

Reviewed 13 Aug 2016

We loved the house and the facilities, the rooms were spacious and cosy, with big family kitchen. The bath was amazing and big enough for two, the history and books were really interesting. Well equipped with everything for day to day needs, the only thing possibly in need of improvement was the garden which could have been level and tidied up a bit. The beds were comfy, maybe more towels could have been provided.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your review. We sincerely apologize for the untidiness of our cottage garden. I have held discussions with our gardening company and advised them that their current standard is not acceptable and I will now be completing spot checks. I have sent you a letter by separate cover to your home address and once again apologies.

“A very pleasant stay.”

Reviewed 19 Jul 2016

The cottage was ideal for us- a party of three generations ( age range 30 to 83). Lovely and clean and with two lounges we could spread ourselves about. Although we didn't cook there we had a lovely BBQ in the garden. My husband made use of the sauna but with temps up to 30 degrees outside I gave it a miss! Well located to visit surrounding areas and would recommend Southwell; Clumber Park and The Maypole just off the green - where we had a lovely meal.. Two things we thought could have been better- more towels only hand towels provided and no basics like salt and pepper but otherwise very good.

“Excellent but beware if you do not like really steep stairs”

Reviewed 24 Oct 2012

Spotlessly clean, very comfortable, well equipped. Would have very happily given 5 stars except for the stairs which are really (!) steep. It did not matter too much to us although one of the children slipped down the last few, older people would really struggle I think.

“Fabulous Stay”

Reviewed 8 Oct 2012

This is a gorgeous cottage that has been beautifully and luxuriously refurbished whilst retaing all its original character. The two lounges are spacious and comfortable, the best feature being a wood fire in both! We especially liked the fact that all the wood and firelighters are complimentary. The tiny stairs up to the 1st floor are very quaint but one needs to be careful on them! The main double and twin bedrooms are very spacious, the second double a little on the small side, but all extremely comfortable with lovely linens and duvets. The bathroom is large and very luxurious with a roll top bath, and separate shower. Kitchen and dining area are a good size and very well equiped with everything one would require and more. There is a donwstairs shower and loo - complete with sauna, which unfortunately we didn't get round to using. The garden and patio is very pretty and we were lucky enough to have good weather and had a BBQ on one evening. The Red Lion pub over the road is great with a lovely cosy atmophere and good food. We had a fabulous time at the White Horse Cottage and highly recommend staying there. We hope to return.
