Location description from owner

The England region

Somerset is full of historic buildings, beautiful countryside and family activities. Amongst the many attractions of the region are Cheddar Gorge, the City of Wells, with its ancient cathedral, Wookey Hole, Glastonbury Tor and Abbey, the cities of Bath and Bristol, the lakes and birdlife of Chew Valley, and for walkers and cyclists, the many footpaths around the Mendips and Somerset Levels.Wells has a 13th century cathedral and the Bishops Palace, along with a bustling high street and active markets. It is also very close to Wookey Hole, an important local tourist attraction. Other major towns and cities nearby include Glastonbury, famous for Glastonbury Tor and Glastonbury Abbey, and Bath, with the newly re-opened Roman Baths and Spa, and of course The Royal Crescent, the famous Georgian world heritage site. For walkers there are the Mendip Hills, and the Somerset Levels, and if you like the sea we are near Weston super Mare, a Victorian seaside resort with a Grand Pier and aquarium, as well as lots of beach-front. If you like to cycle, there is the famous "Strawberry Line"...This disused railway line between Yatton and Cheddar today forms a railway walk and part of the National Cycle Network route 26.

Wedmore

Ragwood Cottage is 2 miles from Cheddar, famous for cheese making and the magnificent gorge and caves. The cottage has its own parking space and garden, in a quiet and secluded spot. There is one drinkers pub within ½ mile, and there are several pubs and restaurants that do great food within two miles, in the lovely village of Wedmore. Nearby, the city of Wells has a 13th-century cathedral and many historic buildings. Glastonbury is within 20 minutes as is the sea at Weston super Mare, Brean and Burham-on-Sea.

“Great holiday let - close to the seaside and great sites and walks.”

Reviewed 30 Jul 2013

Cottage has everything you could need including very comfy beds and modern, well appointed bathrooms (with hot water whenever you need it!). Small galley kitchen was great but ate out mostly as so many good restaurants and pubs nearby, in Wedmore and Wooky to name a couple of places. It's a great base for walking - try Nyland for a starter then head to Cheddar Gorge for a real hike. The sea isn't too far away and there are lots of great beaches. The owner, who lives next door, is very welcoming and friendly, and is a fountain of knowledge about the area with good recommendations of both restaurants and things to do. We had a great time and our daughters loved their upstairs bedroom.
