Location description from owner

The Province of Munster region

Careys is beside the River Inny in the most westerly corner of Europe, a climate where one can experience 4 seasons in one day.More often than not you can experience light drizzle in the morning followed by a rainbow and then a great sunset. Experience some of the best beaches in Europe and areas where you can see the tallest mountain in Ireland and some spectacular rugged coastlines that dip down to the sea. Many emigrants to the States, Australia, New Zealand and England have roots in Kerry. The natural scenery and small villages are delightful. A must is a boat trip to the Skelligs if you wish to see where monks from the 7th century settled. If fresh fish is what you crave for look no further, you can buy fresh fish including oysters, mackeral salmon and prawns. or enjoy the excellent local food in our restaurants. Many famous golfers prepare for international tournaments at Waterville Golf course.

Waterville

Waterville 7 km away Is a seaside village with supermarkets, pubs and restaurants & local night club, watersports & fishing. . With its top links golf course. Great views, driving, walking & cycling opportunities. It hosts the world comedy film festival supported by the Chaplin family. Waterville lakes excellent destination for fishing walking or exploring.

Gaeltacht speaking Ballinskelligs approx. 3 kms away with blue flag beach ideal for horseriding & its now famous Skelligs Rocks featured in Star wars.. Derrynane my favourite beach a littler further along the coast.

Portmagee is approx. 10 km and hosts regular set dancing

Derrynane a little further along the coast is surely Europes best family beach in my opinion.

“Warmest welcome in a great area”

Reviewed 31 Aug 2012

We had a very good time in the house. The house is very comfortable and warm with everything to appreciate good moments in family. Ireland is magic and in France Ireland is known for its hospitality, and it's true ! We had a warmest welcome ! Thank you so much.
