Description

The Captain's House is a two-bedroom, self-catering flat occupying the first and second floors of the traditional Captains House in the centre of the historic fishing village of Stein, a conservation area on the shores of Loch Bay situated on the west coast of the Waternish peninsula of North Western Skye.

The flat is traditionally furnished throughout and has electric storage heaters and a real fire (coal & logs), fire alarm cover, and a pay-phone. It sits above our craftshop and gallery. It shares the front door but is securely partitioned off from the ground floor with its own locked door. There is also a private door to the secluded rear garden.

Across the road on the shore is a second private garden for the flat residents. Ample parking space is available at the front of the house and to the side.

The well known Stein inn and Lochbay Seafood Restaurant are yards away and the Captains House has a fascinating history of its own.

“A home from home”

We have just returned from a wonderful week at The captains house. This property is a home from home which was spotless, with lots of space and everything you possibly could need for your holiday. The house is situated in an ideal area to travel to many of the main points of interest on Skye with stunning views from all the front facing Windows. There is a coal fire in the living room which is lovely to relax in front of in the evening after a day of exploring. We had very little mobile network available in the area which was not an issue as the house has wifi and a pay phone. Our whole family loved our time there and are already looking forward to coming back again.

Owner's reply: ..............and you left the place spotless - much to the pleasure of Andrea who services the flat. Thanks for doing the washing as well, and your son made a brilliant job of combing the fleeces! Looking forward to seeing you again, we do like ideal guests!

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.
