The County Down region
The Mountains of the Mourne are one of the most picturesque mountain areas in Ireland. Uniquely for a mountain range, most of the summits are grouped together in an area only seven miles broad, which provides spectacular scenery.
The region is dotted with walking and biking trails and many Forest Parks. Kilbroney park is a 10 min drive away, a short steep walk to the Cloughmore stone provides panoramic views of Carlingford Lough. Silent Valley mountain Park is located within the Mourne area of outstanding natural beauty. Slieve Gullion Forest Park is situated a few miles outside Newry.
Golfers are well catered for in the area with Warrenpoint Golf Club, Royal County Down forty minutes drive and Greenore Golf Course just across the lough.
Guests have lots of restaurants and bars to choose from , all within 10 minutes walk
Warrenpoint is situated on the shores of Carlingford Lough., the gateway to the Mourne Mountains. Warrenpoint is an attractive town with neat Victorian terraces and wide streets. Known for its scenic coastal location, as you look east towards the Irish Sea, the Cooley Penninsula, and Carlingford Mountains provide striking scenery for any visitors to the town.
Warrenpoint town park has magnificent arrays of flowers, an Edwardian bandstand that hosts summer concerts, tennis courts and newly renovated play area. The town is also known for The Maiden of The Mournes festival, Blues on the Bay music festival and the nearby Narrow Water Castle which dates from 1660's.
Warrenpoint is surrounded by beautiful coastal towns and villages, from the scenic village of Rostrevor, bustling Newcastle , to the medieval village of Carlingford.
Rostrevor, hosts the annual Fiddlers Green Music festival in July, a celebration of Irish music and culture with an international flavour.

"best holiday rental property ever!"
Dolly's Cottage is a beautifully furnished and decorated property. The views from the front of the house are stunning. The owners exceeded every expectation we could have wished for. Hopefully we will be returning in the future.

"Beautiful cottage and excellent hosts"
The cottage was even nicer than the pictures and had absolutely everything we needed. We were on a business trip and had travelled from Liverpool so appreciated the kind welcome pack and little extras that Maura had left for us. It was spacious, warm, comfortable beds and lovely bathrooms. Excellent price for a lovely cottage in a good location right on the sea front.
