“Wonderful Stay”

Reviewed 30 Sep 2015

We have just returned from a wonderful weeks holiday at The Shieling . The cottage has everything you need for a great holiday and is very comfortable . The setting is fabulous and although other properties are nearby it feels private and is very quiet . There are great views from the property with the sea in the distance and its only a 10 minute drive to the nearest beach ( which is brilliant ) at Warkworth . Warkworth itself is a lovely village and has two pubs along with a great coffee shop / café called Bertrams which we recommend . There is lots to do and see in the vicinity and we recommend Holy Island and if you enjoy seafood Craster ! This was our first holiday to Northumberland and won't be our last .

It was lovely meeting you all and thank you for the kind review. Thanks also for the recommendation to the new restaurant. I went and enjoyed it.

“A spacious relaxing property perfect location.”

Reviewed 16 Jul 2015

We have stayed in many self-catering properties in the UK over the last 25 years and can safely put this one in our top three. Spacious property, well equipped, perfectly located to explore Northumberland.. We didn't get a chance to visit all the places we had planned, so looks like we will be booking to come back again !

Good to meet you all and it would be lovely to welcome you back to The Shieling and Northumberland.

“Cracking base from which to explore the many joys of Northumberland”

Reviewed 4 Jul 2015

My wife and I stayed at the Shieling with our 7 month old son and had a fabulous week exploring Northumberland. The property was immaculately clean, had everything that we needed and was extremely comfortable. Carole Ann was there to meet us when we arrived and had lots of helpful recommendations about places to go and things to do (including Cragside, which definitely merits a visit). The bungalow is in a wonderfully peaceful setting, with a fabulous view from the conservatory over the field to the sea. The perfect place for a glass of wine after the baby had gone to bed. We had an amazing holiday - thank you.

Thank you for your kind comments and taking the time to write it. It was lovely meeting you all and hearing you enjoyed spending time in beautiful Northumberland and The Shieling. Carole Ann.

“Comfortable and Spacious - a real 'home from home'”

Reviewed 2 Apr 2015

Very spacious 'wow factor' property. Lovely and warm, well kept and modern. A well equipped and comfortable place to stay in this exceptional and beautiful 'coast and castle' county. Exceptional walking and cycling on the newly-built coastal cycle path. If you are impressed by the surroundings during the day, wait until it gets dark! In this designated 'dark place' you will see stars like you wouldn't believe. The place is awesome. The Masons Arms in Warkworth has free wi-fi. If you need to stay in touch with the outside world, you may need to go for a pint!

Thanks for your comments. We also have WiFi in the cottage now. Carole Ann

“What a lovely surprise!”

Reviewed 21 Oct 2014

The lodge was much more spacious than we had expected. Carole was waiting to welcome us and showed us round. All mod cons were there, almost too many of them! The space was light, airy, warm and spotless. There were plenty of books, including books and games for the children. There was plenty information about what there was to do in the area. Shopping for food was not a problem with large supermarkets in Alnwick and Amble. Although we were there for only three days, we visited Alnwick, Alnmouth beach, Warkworth and Amble. All in all a quiet, super location.

I love Northumberland and enjoy sharing it with my guests. It is great to hear you enjoyed your trip to The Shieling. Thanks for the kind comments. Carole Ann.

“Peaceful location, spacious modern lodge, wonderful views.”

Reviewed 17 Aug 2014

The Shieling is a fantastic place to stay and explore Northumberland. Warkworth and Amble are only minutes away by car for local facilities and attractions whilst the market town of Alnwick with its beautiful gardens and wonderful castle is just a little further. The lodge itself is clean modern, well equipped and spacious and was perfect for our family of 5. The sea view and peaceful location were ideal for relaxing after a busy day of sight seeing

“Lovely views across to Warkworth Castle, breathtaking!”

Reviewed 28 Feb 2014

Lovely superior chalet set just outside Warkworth and away from it all. Perfect place for a family celebration or get together. Ideally placed for all of Northumberland's great attractions and beaches. Great social living area and warm, cosy and comfortable. Conservatory space great for a relaxing snooze or curl up with a book for a quiet read.
