The England region

Wark is a pretty village close to the River North Tyne. The village is quiet and friendly but has all the amenities you might need for your stay; butcher, general store and Post Office, coffee shop, the Grey Bull pub, Black Bull pub and Country Kitchen, and award winning restaurant The Battlesteads. There are some great walks along the river - watch the salmon jumping and if you're lucky you'll see the heron fishing.

The historic town of Hexham is about 15 minutes drive away - a great place to wander and absorb some history with a visit to the Abbey and Hexham Old Gaol built in the 1300s and now a museum.

Chesters Roman Fort is just 5 miles away and is a fascinating day out for young and old - more details can be found here http://bit.ly/1FeZZcV

Kielder Water and Forest Park is a 30 minute drive and is well worth the short time spent in the car. Enjoy boat trips on the reservoir, hiking, fantastic mountain bike trails, birds of prey centre, and of course the Observatory. http://bit.ly/1c0vVKW
