Above and behind the house is National Trust Land with direct access." Gallants Bower" is a famous local walk leading to hidden coves and sandy beaches. The Pottery has a wonderful communal area used for car parking and for children to play out and scoot about on scooters and bikes. Parental supervision is a must. There is a small infrequently used road alongside the Pottery development where you can directly access the creek and thereon the River Dart. Our children run down to feed the ducks, watch for seals and picnic there on summer nights. Watching the boats returning in the evening with the light on the water is a favourite pastime. You can walk to Dartmouth Castle in under 5 minutes from the house. Catch a ferry into town for shopping or eating and catch a water taxi home at night if you don't fancy the walk home. The road to the town runs above the river Dart along a well trodden pavement and the moon on the water on the way home at night is a special experience.

The Devon region
South Devon is known for having a temperate climate with water temperatures reaching up to 70 degrees by the end of the season. Artists love this area for the colours and fabulous light.
The coastal towns of Salcombe and Dartmouth and the vibrant inland market towns of Totnes and Kingsbridge, are well worth a visit as part of your South Devon holiday.
Dartmouth has a thriving, dynamic community and is renowned as a popular destination for visitors seeking rest, recreation and inspiration.
Offering fabulous views of the river, narrow lanes, stairways and corridors - Dartmouth is a must. The town has a reputation for good food - with many fine restaurants. Then there's Foss Street with eclectic shops and art galleries.
The market square with the Friday fish market is fun too .
Ancient buildings abound. The Cherub Inn (1380) and The Butterwalk (1628) which includes the Dartmouth Museum, are two of the oldest . The Royal Regatta, during August, with sailing and rowing competitions plus spectacular airbourne displays, often including the Red Arrows, is a world famous event.
Hop on the picnic boat for lunch on the river. Jump on the ferry over to Kingswear to catch a steam train or simply enjoy the stunning river views from your cottage.
Lounge on the privately owned beach at Blackpool Sands. Catch a movie at the Flavel Centre or have a night in catered by our own private cook.
Tesco even deliver direct to the cottage!

An excellent property within relatively easy walking distance of Dartmouth (approx 20mins). It is a slightly hilly walk but the views are stunning. Everything you could want was provided in the kitchen, altogether a super property which we may well use again this year. Parking for more than one car may be problematic in summer but no problem at all in quieter times.

"Fabulous Place to Stay!"
We stayed for a week in Dartmouth & loved it, Dartmouth itself is simply beautiful & this cottage is situated right next to the castle near the mouth of the estuary but only a 10min easy walk to the hub of Dartmouth The cottage was really well equipped, very clean & better that a home from home Mandy could not be more accommodating & was more than happy to cater for our special needs (don't suppose my sunglasses turned up?) Great stem train ride from Dartmouth, keep the the southern areas of Devon though - they are prettier and less commercialised (unless you like that of course)

"Excellent,spacious accommodation,in a great location."
We have recently returned from a long weekend stay at 5 Pottery Cottages, and can't rate it highly enough. We were two families with two 16 year olds and a 9 year old...and a couple of small dogs! On our arrival, the house was warm & welcoming, with a real home from home feel about the place.Parking was in front of the house, so no problems with carrying our food and cases a long distance! The house was very clean, comfortable and extremely well equipped. The children had the whole of the top floor of the house to themselves, and loved having their own space. The two couples in the party, had the second floor, with the master suite benefitting from a very spacious room, dressing area and en-suite. The second king size room, was not quite so well equipped, but none the less, a very comfortable room. We had more than enough space for a party of 7, and never felt cramped or in each others way. The cottage itself, is located in a peaceful area, close to some fantastic walks, and only a pleasant 10-15 minute walk to Dartmouth. The town itself has a great selection of pubs, shops and restaurants to suit most tastes. We all felt very lucky to spend a few days in this lovely home which is an asset to the very thoughtful owner, who it must be said, couldn't have been more accommodating to our party. We can't wait to return to this beautiful house in the near future.

"Everything you could ask for"
Lovely and very practical house for our family party of seven + dog. Great location within walking distance of all that Dartmouth has to offer and easy access to coastal path. Parking a big bonus as anyone who has ever stayed in Dartmouth will verify.

"Fabulous accommodation, where we instantly felt 'at home'!"
We had a wonderful week at Pottery Cottages - everything we needed was readily available, with lots of very thoughtful 'extras' that made all the difference. We loved exploring the area, walking to the town, the castle, and the beautiful creek just down the lane. Pretty sure we'll be back!

Lovely place to saty with parking which is a real bonus in Dartmouth. Near enough to the town to walk so car only needed for trips to supermarket

"An excellent , large clean house - a home from home - bonus of parking"
I shared the house with my sister and her family and we had a great time. There was plenty of room for all of us. The four bedrooms were all a good size. It was a short very sceanic walk into town where my son went crabbing most evenings. There are beaches just a short drive away and my sister even went to the Eden Project which she greatly enjoyed. It was good having a flexible starting date and Mandy accomodated us very willingly. The house was spotless when we arrived and we felt like we were in a home from home it was so cosy and had every amenity you could want. Having a parking space was an excellent bonus as it is very hard to find a parking space in Dartmouth.

Great location, quiet but not remote, close to the town but yet still very much in the country. The house is very much a home with everything you could need already provided which made for a very relaxing and comfortable stay.

"Beautiful location, Stunning modern property"
This is a four bedroom property, converted to a very high spec. Location is excellent for both access to the town, and local walks. There is a castle near by with good coastal walks. 15 minutes scenic walk into town. A wonderful little hideway that comes thoroughly recommended. I hope to book away if we are lucky enough.

We had a great stay at 5 Pottery cottages, excellent house, perfect location, would not hesitate to recommend. The house is located by Warfleet creek, 5 to 10 mins walk from the centre of Dartmouth, and 5 mins from Dartmouth castle. The house has everything you would need for a comfortable stay and good communication with the owner meant that all went to plan.
