Location description from owner

The South Aegean region

Gialiskari Beach Kea: Gialiskari is a beach 3 minutes drive from Villa Irini .
Is the most popular among the locals. In spite of its size, during the high season this beach counts on an extra attraction, a cafe bar that provides great views of the beach, to the point that one feels as being enjoying a drink or a meal in the middle of the beach. The location of this place is also very suitable in general terms, as it is at just a 5 minutes walk from the taverns at the harbour of Vourkari, as well as from the main port of Korrissia, since it is in the middle of both ports, although it is placed in a cove within Korissia bay. This semi-enclosed location guarantees the calmness of the sea in regular weather conditions. The ones who enjoy swimming at tranquil waters, or those who have children will sure take advantage of that. In fact, Gialiskari tends to be plenty of kids and teenagers. You can enjoy the lively atmosphere of this beach on summer, and also come to relax during the low season.

Villa Irini is overlooking the fishing village of Vourkari, with just a few dozens of local residents is in the northern area of Kea island. Vourkari is a fishing village protected from winds, with plenty of small fishing boats called kaekia, and some sailing boats.
There are really good restaurants in this area, serving fish based dishes, fresh lobster, and other traditional dishes. Some other recommended dishes are spaghetti with lobster and sprinkled with wine or the bouillabaisse. But food is not the only one attraction in the area of Vourkari.
Those who are fond of arts will discover in the area with the plethora of taverns, a small art gallery with paintings related to Kea. The prehistoric villa dating from the Copper Age is also worth a visit. You cannot get lost, as it is placed on the road from Vourkari to Otzia. There is also a small church in the area, Agia Eirini, and some picturesque houses a little higher up on the hill. Apart from being well preserved and pretty beautiful, they were built with the same materials that the locals used in ancient times.

Vourkari

Kea, also known as Tzia is part of the Cyclades complex, an island with an interesting landscape, endless coasts, green valleys and hiking trails. has nice seaside villages, a picturesque capital and crystal beach waters.
Ioulida is the capital, an area of huge interest but it is also true that the most beautiful settlements of Kea are characterized by their authentic colour and can be seen in the northeastern side of the island. The countless paths of Kea are unique for hiking adventures and walks to explore the island with the best views to the Aegean. Kea is a source of archaeological remains most of which are kept in the museum of Kea.

The island can be reached only by ferry from the port of Lavrion, on the southernmost spot of Attica.
