Description from owner

Description

Welcome to Le Clos de Blisse!

Ideally located close to the millennial city of Bayeux and only a few kilometers away from the American D-Day beaches, Le Clos de Blisse offers the perfect base to discover the historical and cultural treasures of Normandy.

Juno Lodge, Utah House and Omaha Mansion are the three accommodations available within the 8-hectare property. With no vis-à-vis, each benefit from its own private garden and terrace.

All are state-of-the art renovations of 18th century buildings dating back from the French Revolution. Whilst retaining many original features, they provide the highest modern comfort (underfloor heating, wifi, apple tv).

Overlooking the water and the surrounding Norman countryside, the heated swimming pool and sauna will make of your holiday the most relaxing stay.

“Here is the place to stay..beautiful, peaceful, a home away from home.”

Reviewed 19 Oct 2018

A week here allows you to unpack, have fresh croissants every morning, a cook's kitchen, and then be able to visit the Normandie beaches, Bayeux tapestry, Bayeux cathedral, day trip to St Malo and Mont Ste Michel and rest in between. Heaven. This was our second stay in two years. Samuelle is thee best host you could find anywhere. Book your stay.

“P E R F E C T - What an amazing place!”

We just spend the most amazing week at this beautiful place! What a fantastic house! Each and every detail is designed with taste and a great sense of style. The decor is fantastic and everything is of highest quality. Everything was perfectly clean and the kitchen was as beautiful as practical and stocked with everything you need for cooking a great meal. The hosts speak perfect English and are very friendly and will recommend on interesting places to visit. The welcome gift of Cidre and the Bio-eggs was very much appreciated...just as the service from the local bakery, who brought fresh baguette and Croissants to our doorstep every morning. We loved the outdoor Sauna and the boys and lots to do playing with the animals or playing with the boat on the little lake. The location is very quiet and beautiful..offering great walks right from the doorstep, but within a couple of minutes you can reach all the main routes and it's never far to the main sites. A place that we can only highly recommend and will return to soon! I rarely found a property better in reality than it already appeared on pictures but this one is worth every Euro! Merci for a great week!!

“A perfect, relaxing getaway in the beautiful French countryside.”

The owners were so welcoming and went above and beyond with their services to make our stay as enjoyable and relaxing as possible. The guesthouse is perfect for families and our 3 teenagers loved it!

“AMAZING rental”

Reviewed 11 Jan 2016

We stayed in this home for the weekend while we explored the D-day beaches with my parents. We arrived to a home cooked meal (because they knew we were travelling that night from Paris) which was delicious and several dozen fresh farm eggs for the morning. A fire was in the hearth and we immediately sat down to an amazing meal and delicious glass of wine by the open fire. Mathias had warmed up the amazingly relaxing hot tub for the family to enjoy and we could NOT believe how beautiful and clean the apartment was. It felt more like a 5* hotel with crisp clean bedding and towels. The kids awoke to explore the farm with my parents while we enjoyed a delicious coffee. The rental had everything you could possibly need. We LOVED It....you will be hard pressed to find a rental like this anywhere els in the world. Thank you for an amazing stay!

“Beautiful gite, lovely people”

Reviewed 3 Nov 2015

It's hard to fault Samuelle and Mattias' beautiful home. It's stylish, comfortable, warm and inviting, and set on beautiful sprawling grounds that are breathtaking on a sunny day. The beds are big and comfortable; the kitchen well-appointed; and the decor and ambiance top-notch. The attention to detail and quality of furnishings is impeccable. The owners are helpful, friendly and welcoming. Honestly, it's a wonderful, wonderful place to stay and I'd highly recommend it to anyone wanting to balance the exploration of Normandy and its beaches with a bit of countryside idyll. My only suggestion is that for people travelling with small children, the numerous steps and hard surfaces can be a bit tricky. It might be helpful for a single stair gate to be provided to future guests hoping to keep their little ones contained in the lounge. We managed fine by hanging out in the kitchen, but a bit more assurance our little one wouldn't tumble down the steps would have meant a bit more time relaxing upstairs. Other than that, perfection!

“Very hospitable owners and a beautiful, comfortable property”

Reviewed 25 Oct 2015

We visited Normandy specifically to visit the D-Day beaches and museums and Le Clos de Blisse is perfectly situated for this, just 15-20 minutes away from the coast. We also made trips to Caen, Bayeux and Mont St. Michel (just an hour and half away), so it's a great location to cover lots of other places also. Samuelle & Mathias were very welcoming when we arrived and gave us lots of useful information about the area as well as some delicious local goodies to enjoy. The house was spotlessly clean, very, very comfortable, especially when it turned a bit chilly and we had a cosy log fire going, and was very well equipped with everything we needed- even a choice of coffee makers! We had our own private entrance and garden but it was nice to know that Mathias and Samuelle were close if we had any questions or problems. I would highly recommend Le Clos de Blisse and I will definitely be returning.

“Excellent!”

We enjoyed an excellent holiday in this very comfortable gite. Samuelle and Mathias were very warm and welcoming - from breakfast pastries delivered to our kitchen window every morning to freshly cooked clams on the evening after we had had a long day out on a D Day tour. Perfect! The gite has been thoughtfully furnished and equipped. It is ideally placed for visiting the D Day sites and only an hours drive from Caen along the N13. We would highly recommend this gite - and it's owners.
