Description

“Alfie Place” is situated in a stepped lane “Triq Gilormu Cassar” in the urban conservation area of the Medieval city of Vittoriosa also Known as Birgu which takes you back in time to the 15th Century. “Triq Gilormu Cassar” is probably the most photographed street and it's a must Show with Tourist Guides, It's a very quite street, Traffic free and only minutes by walk from all amenities.

"Alfie's Place" is set on two floors. At ground floor level one finds a Beautifully set Eat in Kitchen with modern lightnings where the Historic walls meet the modern lights and paintings. Adjacent is Beautiful, Bright and Modern Bathroom, consisting of a WC, Large Basin & Mirror, Shaver Unit and a Large Double walk In Glass Shower.

A masonry staircase leads on to the first floor level where you find the Two Bedrooms separated by a small hallway.

The main Bedroom is nicely set for a double Bed with Lounge and a Balcony. The Exposed Historic Walls, Beams, Paintings, Curtains together with some very modern Lights will set the mood for the night.

The 2nd Bedroom has a small Window and is set up for two Single Beds, once again the walls and masonry Ceiling are exposed and set with modern lights. The Arched Ceiling and its architecture make this room so charming and so easy to fall in love with,

All rooms are facing the facade of the building.

“Besser kann man in Malta im Urlaub nicht wohnen!”

Die Wohnung ist eher ein Haus. Und mitten in der wunderschönen Altstadt von Birgu. Alfie ist ein hervorragender Vermieter, der alles tut, damit man sich wohl fühlt. Er ist jederzeit erreichbar und fragt auch mal an, ob was fehlt etc. Flughafen Abholung und Hinbringen ist ein toller Extra Service von Alfie. Super - gleich mit tollen Infos über die Gegend. Bei der Ankunft in der Wohnung fühlt man sich gleich zu Hause. In der Nähe ist auch alles was man braucht super zu Fuß zu erreichen. Rundum ein toller Urlaub in einem mittelalterlichen Haus und einem super Vermieter. Die Abreise fiel uns schwer.

“Perfect”

Well what can I say....this is a perfect place to stay in one of the nicest alleys in Birgu which is one of my favourite places in Malta. Alfred is the perfect host and although not needed I know he would have responded immediately if needed. I was picked up from the airport and then taken for a nice glass of wine before arriving at the apartment which was lovely as we had a lovely chat and got to know each other a little. Alfred also sent a lot of information before I arrived about the local walks and history in the area. I would highly recommend anyone to stay at Alfie's...you will not be disappointed!! Thanks Alfie hopefully see you next year at The Alley! :)

had a really good 5 days here at Alfies place .He went out of his way to help us and gave us lots of good information .it was a 10 min walk to the ferry 7 day pass is 10E this gives you free access to the lift at the other end .it was then 15/20 min walk to the main bus station where you could get a bus to the many places in Malta .Bus pass was 15E for 12 rides . the square where the restaurants /bars were was a 2/3min walk from the apartment .Alfie picked us up from the airport which I would recommend as there are lots of small streets and they can all look the same .we caught the bus back to the airport which was easy if you have only hand luggage .or a small case .loved our 5 days and the people were so friendly and helpful .

Great place to stay Alfred is a great host and nothing is to much trouble always at the end of a phone if needed Alfie's place is close to the local square and the harbour the ferry to Valletta is only minutes away so all in all It gets the thumbs up from me and my wife who loves it. Thanks Alfie.

Everything that has been said on the reviews are true. Wonderful little house in the old town of Birgu. Alfie was a very friendly,helpful and knowledgeable host.who had even gone to the trouble of putting up a Christmas Tree for our stay with a lovely gift wrapped for us.. The house its self is exactly as per the pictures shown. Small but full of character and history. The stone stairs,flagged floor and beams gave us the place a real sense of history which fits very well in Birgu. There is enough equipment to cook a full meal (we did a full uk christmas lunch), but there are plenty of bars and restaurants in the square or waterfront if you want to eat out. Make the effort to cross the bridge over the water and visit the restaurants at senglea - il hnejja being our favourite. Christmas in Birgu and Valletta was wonderful. We bought the weekly pass on the ferry to cross two and from birgu/valletta but also used the buses to come back - they are a little haphazard with their timetable at the moment due to a new company taking over - but cheap enough. Make time to visit Paola just 15 mins walk from Birgu or 5 mns on the bus - bustling little town with some very interesting neolithic tombs to visit. Would recommend this property with no hesitation at all. Well done Alfie for making our stay in Birgu so pleasant. Tanya & Marc x

“Terrific value, fantastic host”

Chose this place based on the previous reviews and was not disappointed. Alfie is responsive, efficient and excellent company. He picked us up from the airport in his van and treated us to drinks before bringing us to the apartment. You could not hope for better concierge service at a 5-star hotel. We were briefed on the peculiarities of the apartment (coin-operated electricity and safety gate at the top of the stairs!), very useful telephone numbers and local information as well as advice on things to see and do. The starter pack of essential foods was great considering we arrived at night and needed breakfast things. The apartment is a piece of living history - especially when we found out that it's actually Alfie's childhood home. Some toiletries and towels are available but if you are finicky about things like that, of course bring your own. Bedrooms need to be accessed by stairs, for those with limited mobility. Hot water is reliable. Wifi is excellent, but for cell service, you may have to step out into the street. And there are no secrets on the street! Sound carries a lot, so you can keep track of the comings and goings of the neighbours. I didn't find this a problem - all part of the experience of living in a community space instead of a tourist resort - but if you are particularly jumpy at unfamiliar noises, this will be a consideration. Having said that, it is a civilized neighbourhood, so it is very quiet at night. The location is excellent - off the town square, a short walk to the bus-stop and ferry terminal for access to Valletta and the rest of Malta. Of course you are in the heart of the three cities, where you can easily explore the wealth of history and scenery surrounding the Grand Harbour on foot. There are several eateries and convenience stores nearby, though the latter will mostly be closed on Sundays. At the end of our stay, Alfie dropped us off at the airport with a parting gift of almond biscuits. If you are looking for a resort-style luxury accommodation, look elsewhere. For amazing value, a gorgeous and strategic location, a taste of local life and a warm and caring host, Alfie's place is hard to beat. Thanks for everything, Alfie, and hope we get a chance to visit again.

We had a lovely time in Alfie's Place.Alfie was the perfect host he picked us up and gave us a small tour of Birgu, showed us where to get ferry and bus.He had bread, cheese, ham and milk in fridge for us on arrival. The apartment is in a beautiful street close to cafes and transport. The locals were friendly and made us feel welcome. Would highly recommend for an authentic Maltese experience.
