All bedrooms have heaters, pine beds and clothes hanging. We supply double and single duvets and pillows but no linen. There are hand and tea towels for the kitchen but no bath towels.
On the ground floor there is a fully fitted farmhouse kitchen with cupboards, worktops, a double sink, cooker, fridge, microwave and washing machine. There is a range of electrical appliances such as coffee machine, hair drier, iron, etc.
The main ground floor room is a dining room/lounge with a Louis 16th Rustique dining room suite equipped for 10 diners, a music center and a range of easy chairs. The feature of this room, and indeed of the house, is the high ceiling, cartwheel lighting and raised hearth with log burning stove.
Adjacent to the back door is a toilet and shower room.
The second highlight of the house is the roof lounge with spectacular views. It is equipped with CD/DVD player and has two Futons/sofa bed, bringing the absolute maximum accommodation to 10 adults with 2 children and a baby sharing.

Whilst the house is fully equiped you will need to bring your own bedlinen and towels.
The house has a guardian but please bear in mind it is let on a 'Please leave as you would have wished to find' basis

The Basse-Normandie region

Calvados is the south western part of Normandy famous for beautiful green rolling hill countryside with dairy cattle and apple trees. These in turn produce the products for which Normandy is world famous - Cheese, Cream, Butter, Cider and Calvados itself. All these and more can be sampled in the many cafes, restaurants and creperies in villages, towns and on seafronts.

You will discover the history of WW2 in the museums, monuments and landing beaches including Pegasus Bridge and the 'Mulberry Harbour at Arromanches.

Medieval history abounds in Rouen, Bayeaux, Mont St Michel and Falais linking Normandy to England through William the Conqueror.

Calvados has many good inexpensive golf courses or you can find France in the bustle of the many village markets.

Our guess however is that your abiding memory of the Calvados region will be the peace and tranquility of life '50 years ago'.

All that and its so easy to get there as uncrowded dual carriage ways and motorways cross North to South and East to West.

St Malo airport at Pleurtuit and ferry ports at Calais, Dieppe, Le Havre, Caen, and Cherbourg give you plenty of choice between picturesque or swift journeys.

Vire

The farmhouse is situated just north of Vire near the market town of Torigni sur Vire.
In the immediate area of the house and then extending to about 1 hr travelling you will find the following:-
? Supermarkets at Torigni, Vire and Viller Bocage.
? Butcher, baker (Candlestick maker retired last year), hairdresser, garage and café at Campeaux (4 km) and Beny Bocage (6km)
? Bigger shops, banks, boutiques, and tourist offices at Vire and Torigni.
? A market somewhere everyday in the local villages.
? Water Park & WiFi in Vire
? Zoos, fish farms, theme parks and also horse riding, sailing, canoeing, cycling, climbing, hang gliding, bungy jumping and walking opportunities.
? The seaside, as many unspoilt and uncrowded beaches as you could wish and most of them with fresh seafood restaurant
? Tourist areas for copper pan, lace, pot throwing and bell making at Villedieu les Poelles and Pont Farcy There are Medieval hilltop villages, forests and waterfalls

For travellers you are at the junction of Normandy, Brittany and the Pays de la Loire, so where do want to go next.

Failing all of the above you could sit still relax, have a barbeque and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of rural calvados.
