Description

The Beach House is a fantastic getaway for a family of 6. High tide is only a few mtrs from the house, and the sound of the sea is an endearing feature of this unique position. There is a winding drive right down onto the beach through the 4 acres of palm trees and bourganvilea, climbing the coral cliff.

The cottage has 3 lovely airy bedrooms off a wide corridor, and the sea breeze is always blowing making it extremely pleasant to sleep. There is a cosy inside sitting room, and a charming covered verandah and sitting area to relax in the breeze.

The charm of the place is by being on the beach, with its safe inner sandy playground leading into the bar/rondavel where you can relax and dine in the cool of the structure at any time of the day. At the end of the inner beach we have built a new makuti massage parlour, where for less than 5 ukp, you can have a full body massage in complete privacy. The beach itself is inside the coral reef, about 2 km offshore, and there

Location description from owner

The Coast Province region

The Kenyan coast is divided at Mombasa, north and south. Vipingo is north coast, about one hours drive from Mombasa, and on the way to the resort areas of Kilifi, Watamu and Malindi. Clamkara is on the beach at Kuruwitu, which is right on the coast one mile from Vipingo Village. As one experience Kenyan said to me ' Kuruwitu is like Malindi was 40 years ago'.

This comment was directed at the unspoilt nature of this small 3 miles of beach, and the fact that there are no hawkers or beach bums to disrupt your enjoyment of the beach.

What has happened in the last 4 years is the development of the first 36 Hole Golf and Housing complex at Vipingo, nessled on the hillside amongst a sisal estate. This has transformed the fortunes of the area, as this is a high quality development, with a huge airstrip that will shortly take a scheduled airline to Nairobi, and the first 18 holes are the best in East Africa by a long way. It has brought welcome hostelries, and only minutes from Clamkara you can now be sitting in considerable comfort sipping your sundowner amongst international clientelle.

The climate at the coast is always hot, humid sometimes in Jan-Mar, although a little cooler in Jun-Aug with the onset of the SE monsoon.

Vipingo

The Ridge golf development has been described above, and out of interest further golf courses are about to start construction at Kilifi, only 20 mins away.
About 1 km south on Kuruwitu beach, there is a marine conservation project, that oversees a stretch of coastline from unregulated coral collection and illegal fishing practices. This has resulted in fish populations to increase, and the wardens are happy to take visitors on unforgettable snorkeling adventures. They also have equipment to hire.

At Kilifi there is a watersports centre, Three Degrees South, where everything from waterskiing, diving, sailing ,kite-surfing and fishing can be found.

“A very memorable holiday in a stunning location”

Reviewed 15 May 2014

A group of 8, of us stayed at this very luxurious beach villa in February. The villa was utterly perfect - large swimming pool, 3 dining areas - one outside for breakfast, and one on the beach for a barbecue lunch, and another one for dinner in e house!! We also had a tennis court. The bedrooms were exceedingly comfortable, and the staff brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble. To be highly recommended

“A Week-long stay at Clamkara Beach House”

Reviewed 17 Feb 2014

We much enjoyed our stay at Clamkara. The Beach House is set in idyllic surroundings on the edge of the ocean and surrounded by lovely gardens. The domestic staff were most attentive and nothing seemed to too much trouble, The presence of the resident security team provided much reassurance as well. Use of the ghe glorious infinity pool and the tennis court added to the enjoyment of our stay and complemented some lovely walks on the beach - where we bought fish straight off the hook. A perfect holiday in every way!
