Location description from owner

The Occitanie region

The Aveyron is one of the largest departments in France, but has one of the lowest population densities. The department ranges from the rugged heights of the Aubrac mountains in the north with its own ski resorts, to the rolling barren countrysides and the causses towards the south and west.
The department boasts the highest number of picturesque villages in any department, with scenery to interest tastes of all lovers of walking and hiking.
From the architectural wonder of the Millau viaduct to the history of the Knights Templar, there is an abundance of fascinating places to visit and views to see, as well as activities and sports available in the region.

Villefranche-de-Rouergue

The local area is rural, blessed with a wide variety of birds and butterflies and the absence of light pollution at night makes for clear star-gazing. In the spring, there is an abundance of wildflowers, including several different species of wild orchid which can be seen by the roadside. In autumn the colours of the trees, from the gorge by the cottage to the mountains of the Aubrac, are especially stunning.
