Peyrusse le Roc dates from the 12th century and was called Petrucia in the Gallo-Roman times. It was a center for silver-lead

The King of France stopped here in 1031. Many churches, castles and Templar sites abound in the region.

Location description from owner

The Occitanie region

The Aveyron is a very picturesque department . From gorges to mountains and beautiful rivers, the scenery will enchant you. Whether touring by car or walking, there is something for everyone. There are medieval castles hanging on sheer cliffs, incredible markets and tranquil countryside.Photographers and artists will never be short of subject matter.

Villefranche-de-Rouergue

In summer, there are vide greniers in the villages where great bargains are to be had.
Villefranche de Rouergue has a famous market, Belcastel and Conques nearby. Rocamadour with its overhanging shops and church. Cordes sur Ciel, St Cirq la Popie, Millau. The variety is enormous.

A good wine-growing area that is also famous for its Roquefort cheese.

Sit in a nearby cafe with a glass of wine and just watch the French go about their business - a lovely pastime.
