Le Clos is a delightful house situated in a secluded area of the village of Fleury, a few minutes drive from the lively town of Villedieu-les-Poêles and approximately 30 minutes drive from many lovely, sandy beaches. The perfect setting to unwind with a glass of wine or local cider - a bottle of each is in the fridge waiting for you!

The house is easily accessible from ferry and airports and provides a perfect base for exploring the best of rural, coastal and historic Normandy or taking a trip to the Channel Islands.

Le Clos has undergone a complete professional and sympathetic renovation and extension to provide modern holiday accommodation which retains much of the character of the original building – notably oak beams, a large granite fireplace and wooden floors. Outside there is a terrace area, a lawn area and parking for several cars.

Comfort and attention to detail are all important at Le Clos. Furnishings are comfortable throughout with many antique pieces. Pictures and ornaments all add to the French charm and homeliness of the house.

Accommodation comprises:

• Large Master bedroom with ensuite bathroom and WC

• Twin bedroom – beds may be moved together

• Small double bedded room ( please note 120cm bed) with cot (sheets not provided for cot)

• Shower room with multi-jet hydromassage jets and WC

• Well equipped fully fitted oak kitchen including dishwasher and microwave

• Dining area – farm house table with eight chairs and high chair opening onto terrace area

• Downstairs WC and utility room with washing machine

• Large beamed lounge with woodburner (wood provided) and sofa bed

• Large garden area with children’s swings and monkey rope.

Within the bookcase there are many books on the vast range of wildlife that you may see in the area and possibly from Le Clos, Normandy in the Second World War (in English and French) and various paperbacks in French and English.

There is also some bikes, a selection of toys and games, beach games, a boules set and a table football game.

Fleury village centre, about a mile away, offers a bakery, garage, café / restaurant and tennis court. Villedieu-les-Poêles, a five minute drive away, offers all you would expect from a medium sized town including a supermarket and indoor swimming pool. Our guests are always surprised at how much there is going on in the town!

“A charming cottage in peaceful, rural surroundings”

Le Clos is a welcoming and attractive cottage, sited down a rural lane and surrounded by trees and fields. Fleury provides an excellent boulangerie and for other provisions the attractive town of Villedieu is only a short car ride away. Villedieu is a very pretty little town and the market day on Tuesday is great fun and full of life. There are many interesting places to visit in Normandy, so one is spoilt for choice, but it was always good to return to the utter peace and quiet of Le Clos, with the soothing presence of the cattle nearby. We enjoyed a very happy two weeks there.

Drive down the laneway to Le Clos past the grazing cattle and you will fall in love with this beautiful Normandy cottage. A very warm cosy cottage, and very quiet with only the breeze making a noise. A drive into the nearby village of Villedieu will get you all the wonderful French food you can buy, and do not miss the street market on a Tuesday. From here we visited Mont St MIchel, Bayeux and the famous tapestry, and the Normandy beaches. And do not miss the oysters at Cancale. Having driven across France for a while before we arrived at Le Clos for a week's stay, it gave us a chance to relax and recover. There were only the two of us, but the cottage is ideal for a family as well. Very much recommended.

It was a last minute booking with a bit of complications, but the owner could not have been more helpful and hospitable. We were looking for a country get-away and that is exactly what we got. The gite is located in a very private setting in the middle of bucolic serenity, and the locals we met were friendly and just lovely as well. The house is well-equipped and very clean. The house is actually a new construction and therefore perhaps lacks characters if that is what one is after, but the newness certainly makes the stay more comfortable. Recommended.

“Bliss in the French countryside”

This is the nicest house we have had the pleasure to rent. Arriving at the house, you drive up a long rural drive and the house is set in an acre of garden, beautifully quiet and secluded. My husband and I rented this large family home and we enjoyed rattling around in it ourselves; equally it would be very suitable for a large family or two couples. This is a very spacious, well appointed house,with everything provided that you can ever need (and even more). The location of the house is just perfect, an easy walk/cycle ride to the local bakery and a short car journey to the nearest town which has a very good selection of shops and restaurants.

Le Clos is easily the best gite we have stayed in during the last 15 years. Friendly, helpful owners and the cottage far exceeded our expectations. We stayed with our daughter, her husband and their two girls and it fulfilled all our requirements. Very well equipped, spotlessly clean and within easy reach of the coast, Mont St Michel etc.. We have no hesitation in recommending - you can hire with confidence and will not be disappointed!

How do damage deposits work?
