Chaperon Rouge is a comfortable 2 bedroom ground floor apartment with unobstructed views of the Rhone valley & Mont Blanc. 4* Swiss Tourist Office rated. The perfect place for a holiday in all seasons - great skiing in the winter and beautiful scenery and walks in the summer with many activities in the area including Lake Geneva. Ideal for skiing has underground parking and ski locker making it easy and convenient. Walking distance from Aiglon College 600 metres.

The apartment has a light sunny aspect (south facing) stunning views & a quiet location with a log fire. The lounge and main bedroom doors open onto paved and grassed garden. Area is ideal for summer outdoor use together with table and chairs provided.

The Vaud region

The Lake Geneva Region offers a wide range of activities from summer activities such as mountain walking, cycling, and skiing on the glacier, trips to unusual museums such as the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, golf and shopping in the nearby resorts of Montreux, Lausanne and Geneva. Winter is a magical time in the mountains for the usual ski activities, cross country and snow walking. If you prefer, enjoy the views of the snow covered mountains, Village market days, log fires and 'Vin Chaud'.

Villars-sur-Ollon

Villars 1250 - 2200 m

Villars is in the canton of Vaud which borders the edge of Lake Geneva to the east and includes Lausanne and the Alpes Vaudoises. Villars is known as one of the best Swiss resorts for families all year round, with easy access and beautiful views. The resort has many facilities including, indoor swimming pool, ice rink, tennis courts, Golf course, wellness centre, fitness centre, cinema etc.

Villars in summer

In summer the resort is popular for walking with some chair lifts open (the apartment is situated on the route of a walking trail), an 18 hole golf course with stunning views, cycling, riding and good Swiss mountain restaurants. Families and children are well catered for in the area with tree adventure courses, water fun parks and beach at Lake Geneva (25km), labyrinth adventure, go carting and many other activies. The local tourist office provides daily children's entertainment in school holiday periods.

Villars is an excellent base to explore and taste the wine of the local vineyards. The chateaux at Aigle is one of the Michelin must see chateaux of Switzerland (see photo gallery below). Chateaux Chillon is also nearby.

Villars in winter

Villars is a pretty resort with excellent skiing for beginners and intermediates, on wide, well-groomed slopes in a beautiful setting with views towards Mont Blanc and the Dents du Midi. There are plenty of easy blues at Bretaye, intermediates have the widest choice with red and blue runs all over the mountains as well as the glacier at Les Diablerets skiing at 3,000m. Villars is also popular with snowboarders with fun parks at Bretaye and Les Chaux. Access to the slopes is via the new (2006) telecabine lift (1300m from apartment) or the picturesque mountain railway line in the town. Other winter sports include skating, horse riding, curling, hang-gliding, sleigh rides and swimming at the large pool complex.

The Villar-Gryon ski area has 30 lifts with 120 km of runs with snowboard piste, snow park, half pipe.

Ski schools cater for, snowboard school, children's ski school, ski kindergarten.

In addition the Les Diablerets glacier area (3000m) has 44 km of high altitude pistes.

A lovely 2 bedroom ground floor apartment in a quiet location close to the village of Villars with it's excellent facilities including shops, restaurants, tourist office, train/tram station. Loads to do locally: cable cars and trains into the mountains, car and tram access to picturesque local villages. Also very well placed for access to Lake Geneva, Lausanne, Gruyere, Evian, the St. Bernard Pass (all less than 90 minutes drive away). The apartment is extremely comfortable and very well equipped. The master bedroom includes an ensuite bath/shower room and has access to a patio area and the communal garden beyond. The second bedroom has bunk beds and a truckle bed and the second shower room is close by. The living area comprises a small, but entirely adequate kitchen (we did quite a lot of self catering), and a combined living/dining space with TV, music system, etc. and provides access to the front patio. The apartment is double-glazed and well insulated and so is quiet and very cosy! Secure parking is found in the underground car park from which an indoor staircase leads to the apartment itself. Washing and tumble-drying facilities are in a communal room at car park level below the apartment (2CHF per wash or tumble). Wi-fi access would have been a bonus but other than this the apartment lacks nothing of consequence.
