Chalet Gabbro is a self-catering chalet in a small alpine village which offers access great access to the mountains for winter and summer sports.

Chalet Gabbro has a south-facing terrace (with hot tub) and balconies with stunning views of the Romanche valley. Gabbr is well-situated to access local shops and restaurants and the slopes are within easy reach - the nearest piste is 100m away.

Further details

Except by prior agreement, all bookings are Saturday to Saturday and for a minimum of one week.

Booking is accepted upon receipt of non-refundable deposit of 25% of total (in the event of cancellation deposit can only be returned once the booked week is filled).

The balance is payable 6 weeks before arrival date. Please note we do not accept credit cards; payments can be made by bank transfer or euro bankers draft.

Gabbro has a spacious living area with TV (UK and French freesat) and DVD. There is a well-equipped kitchen with a large dining area. There are laundry facilities (washing machine, drier and iron)

There are 4 double or twin,en-suite, bedrooms with additional sleeping for 3. All of the bedrooms have been furnished to offer exceptional levels of comfort. Each of the 4 second floor bedrooms offers superb mountain views.

Gabbro has a ski/ boot room with professional boot heater and drier.

The Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region

Villard Reculas is in Isere, in the Rhone-Alpes region. The nearest city is Grenoble but airports in Lyon, Chambery and even Geneva are within an easy drive.

Whilst renowned for winter sports, the region has worked hard to develop activities for the year round e.g. Mountain and downhill biking (VVT in France) as well as road cycling for which it is also famous - Alpe d’Huez has one of the best known climbs in the Tour de France.

Villard Reculas

Linked in to the vast Alpe d’Huez ski area, Villard Reculas remains a small, authentic but modern, alpine village. It offers the perfect base, in both summer and winter, for those who, after an active day, want to relax in beautiful, peaceful surroundings.
The Grandes Rousses ski area has almost 250km of pisted skiing and extensive off-piste areas. In addition to Villard Reculas and Alpe d’Huez, the area also includes Huez, Auris-en-Oisans, Oz-en-Oisans and Vaujany.The resort also offers 50km of cross country trails.

For those that find that even this isn’t sufficient, the resort of Les Deux Alpes is 35km away. It can also be accessed by helicopter at Alpe d’Huez altiport. A 6 day Visialp pass includes upto 2 days in Les Deux Alpes. Or for those who want more of an off-piste thrill, La Grave is 40km away.

The area offers superb off-road biking, there are 250km of runs between the villages, 14 (121km) downhill and 11 (112km) cross country marked trails of varying difficulty.

For those who favour cycling on the road, the area offers not only the famous Alpe d’Huez climb but also others such as the Col de la Croix de Fer and the Col du Galibier.

Situated as it is, in the heart of the Ecrins National Park, there are a great variety of walks and hikes for those who prefer legs to wheels.
