Description

Mill Cottage is situated just above the Campanillas River in the heart of the Andalucian countryside. A problem many of our guests have is that they come intending to explore the whole of Andalucia but are often unable to tear themselves away. This year we have more repeat bookings than ever. The house has beamed ceilings, terracotta floors and an original feel to it. Visitors often comment on how comfortable the beds are. In fact the whole cottage is comfortably but not over-fussily furnished and has a good, fully equipped kitchen. As well as a free welcome pack we are often able to provide seasonal veg. Both bedrooms have en suite bathrooms. The first bedroom has a wc, bath and shower and the second bedroom a shower, wc and bidet. Both bedrooms have air conditioning and the cottage also has central heating. As well as satellite tv there are plenty of books and dvd's available. We also provide full details of the local area and plenty of information about other places

The large private terrace has teak furniture, a gas barbecue and easy access to the 10m by 5m heated pool, the garden and more terraces. You can walk from the house down to the river, where you can listen to the frog chorus and often find turtles, From the bottom of the track you can continue into the surrounding hills where you may see egrets, a heron and and, if you are lucky, a pair of eagles. Details of short or longer walks are provided.

The pool is occasionally used by the owners when the guests are not using it.

Smoking is permitted on the terrace.

The house has been used by wheelchair users but the pool is reached by steps and not easily accessible.

Both bedrooms can be arranged as double or single rooms as required.The first bedroom has an en suite bathroom with bath, shower attachment and sink.The second bedroom has en suite bathroom with shower, sink and bidet.We can accommodate 4 people + a baby.A travel cot, moses basket, changing table and high chair are available.

Mill Cottage has a large private terrace with terrace furniture above the pool. The property has extensive terraces and gardens which guests have free access to. The pool also has a large terrace with sunshades, chairs, tables and loungers. This area can be lit at night.There is ample parking space. Two mountain bikes are available for hire.

The Andalucia region

Mill Cottage is in an ideal spot for exploring Andalucia. It is between Antequera and Malaga. Antequera has historic churches and buildings, a castle and ancient dolmens. It has shops, restaurants, a golf course and a famous bull ring. Malaga, a lively Spanish resort, is nearby. It, too, has some impressive historic sites as well as the famous Picasso Museum, excellent tapas bars and restaurants, some by the beach, and a good shopping centre. The beaches of Costa del Sol are a half hour drive away. Marbella, 50 minutes away has excellent beaches and a well preserved old town centre. Granada,with the world famous Alhambra Palace and Gardens, is just over an hour away. Good road links mean that Cordoba, Seville and Ronda are also within easy reach as are many traditional white hill top villages. There is plenty to do all year round both locally and further afield.

Villanueva de la Concepcion

Mill Cottage is between Casabermeja and Villanueva de la Concepcion. Both of these are traditional Andalucian pueblos with shops, bars, restaurants and a medical centre. Villanueva has its annual feria in August and Casabermeja has a famous flamenco festival in July. It is a 20 minute walk from the cottage to Arroyo Coche which has a small bar and restaurant, a village store and a bakery. The Torcal Natural Park, famous for its wonderful limestone scenery and spectacular views and the Mountains of Malaga are both close by. From the house you can drive to El Chorro and the lake district. These are lovely areas for walking, bird watching and swimming.
