Northern Portugal region
The Northern region of Portugal offers an incredibly beautiful contrast to the Algarve. Here the vegetation is abundant and green year round and since most of its towns and villages are of medieval origin (at least!) if cultural architectonic landmarks is what you are looking for, you won’t be disappointed! Let’s not forget to mention a very special treat for the connoisseurs: this region is also well known for its wines and gastronomy, home to the ‘Vinho Verde’ as well as to the world-famous Port wine.
Find one of the many old “Quintas” and wineries where you can have tastes of the different qualities of wines, learn its special characteristics and much more. The coastal road will take you on a wonderful trip through spectacular landscapes, rivers, waterfalls and a magical feel throughout.
Away from mass tourism and big crowds, this is a region still to be discovered. From nature trails, to enchanting cities, delicious gastronomy, wines of excellent quality and a charming population, famous for their hospitality… There is always more than one reason to visit the North of Portugal.
Vila do Conde
Vila Cha is a small fishery village which benefits from beautiful beaches unspoiled from tourism industry. Situated just 15 mins north from Porto, Vila Cha is located just next to Mindelo, a modern beach town for wealthy Porto residents who have a second home there.
Just 3 miles north is Vila do Conde, the closest city which still keeps a lot of the character of old Portugal in its architecture and gastronomy. The whole coast line is worth visiting and the gastronomy reflects the fishery tradition of the area.

Stayed here whilst working on Porto. It is a lovely apartment right near the beach and within easy driving distance of the airport and Porto centre. I'd highly recommend it.

"Excellent apartment with a lovely view of the Atlantic."
Very comfortable apartment with well furnished balcony situated in an unspoilt fishing village. I have no hesitation in recommending the apartment and I would really like to return.

"A delightful apartment!"
I have to honest I haven't stayed at many vacation rental, but I tell you one thing, I hope they are all like this one! I cannot emphasize enough how well-presented the apartment was - Truly like 'Home from Home' - But with a better view! You will want for nothing here, everything, and more, is provided. The lounge is a lovely cool refuge in the afternoon heat if needed and come with all the greature comforts, TV, Internet, Sound System, and those Sofas are as comfortable as the look, if not more so! The Kitchen has everything one needs...... And the bedroom is nice and cool and quite enough to sleep late. But for me, The Terrace - Oh I could live on that Terrace, and it's big enough! The views, the sea-breeze, beautiful! Parking was never a problem and seems secure as it's a proper village enviroment. There is lots of nice cafes and restaurants in walking distance where you can get essentials, but not only that, at around mid-morning the fruit/veg/fish/meat/baker vans come down the street everyday, just listen for the 'Hooters'....lol. No, seriously I would recommend this place to anyone. I plan to go back again.......... and again. Thank you!

"Great place to stay"
We stayed at Vila Cha for a week in August. The accommodation is great, large spacious lounge with sea views, nice size bedroom, smallish kitchen but we had most of our meals outside on the large terrace, which was reasonably private. Great sunsets. Very handy for Porto (get the metro, it's cheap and efficient) and for other sight seeing in Northern Portugal. Wasn't over keen on Vila Cha to start off with, but it grew on us. Friendly and inexpensive bar at the top of the road. If there were any downsides it was probably being on the 2nd floor with no lift (we had been on holiday for 3 weeks and had bought lots of things on our travels) and limited parking, but these are very minor worries. Overall would thoroughly recommend

This is a really superb apartment within walking distance of a beach, north of Porto. The apartment has an outdoor balcony overlooking the beach and this is ideal for outdoor dining. A car is essential for transport, although a local train can be used to travel into Porto. The area surrounding the apartment is quiet and serene. A local store at the top of the street provides sufficient provisions for your stay. The apartment is not easy to find once you leave the A28 from the airport, as there is not an abundance of street signs in the small town. However, I suggest you use Google Earth to plot your route. It's worth the effort.
