Description from owner

Description

We have two gites standing side by side; both lovingly restored to combine the old and new in both the building and decoration; carefully furnished throughout with antique pieces to give a unique and quirky feel. We have included many “creature comforts” and “mod-cons” to ensure you have the most relaxing and comfortable stay here in rural France. There is free WiFi, a smart television and a DvD player with a few videos; as well as a wireless music dock. The two gites combined comfortably sleep 8 to 10 should you wish to holiday with friends or family.

La Vienne is laid out over 3 floors, the ground floor comprises of open plan dining, kitchen and lounge; the first floor has a double bedroom and bathroom, and the top floor has a twin room and shower room. It has a private side garden with BBQ, and a private back patio.

The main garden is shared between both gites, it is simply laid out so that you can relax or play. We have provided a few facilities for our younger (or older) guests to play with; plus there are plenty of chairs, sun loungers and picnic tables available. All you need is a good book and a long, iced drink as you simply relax and unwind in this idillic location.

For reference, mobile reception can be sporadic within the properties, but WiFi is good. A car is essential, our nearest town is 10minutes away and there are no shops or restaurants closer, which we find is one of the charms of this location.

Getting around

Dependant on your interests you can choose from visiting chateau, historic towns, rambling ruins and museums to partaking in activities such as adventure parks, velo-rails, water parks and water sports. Mustn't forget, there are two golf courses and plenty of fishing to be had; that coupled with going to the weekly markets, one week just doesn't seem long enough! A car is essential for travel in rural France; its great to pack a picnic and just drive off and explore the area, with pretty places to stop, explore then sit down to eat in abundance.

We live on-site so we are here for you if you need us, if you have any questions or need any advice you can just ask. We will be here when you collect the keys, we will show you around quickly and let you know where to find things. Once you are settled we leave it entirely up to you if you want to interact with us or not; we are happy either way ~ so long as you are enjoying your holiday.

“Long Stay”

Reviewed 10 Apr 2020

Stayed from early February until late March. The gite was well equipped, comfortable and warm. There was an ample supply of wood for the wood burning stove. Julie and Keith were welcoming, helpful and rescued us when our car would not start.

Owner's reply: Thank you for the lovely review, we though thoroughly enjoyed your company too. As hosts we try to be discreet yet available if required; sometimes things just fall into place so easily and in a short time you can make some really good friends. You are both always more than welcome, I'm sure you have some more recipes to teach me! Kind regards Julie
