Getting around

PISA with its famous leaning tower is just a short 25-minute drive or a local bus ride away (55 minutes). LUCCA the Medieval walled city and Puccini's birthplace is just a 30-minute drive away. Or 2 buses from the village FLORENCE with its famous monuments and museums can be reached in 45-minute train journey. We recommend getting the train from Pontedera – a 15 minutes’ drive or local bus A car is recommended to get the most out of your stay but many guests who are staying for a week or more find plenty of time to visit the region by public transport

Interaction with guest

We (Marie and Lorenzo) are the property owners and we live on site in our own private apartment within the Medieval tower house. We always personally meet and greet our guests (on rare occasions when we can’t we organise one of our trusted English-speaking friends) to offer a personalised welcome to Casa Colomba. On arrival, we will guide you through the many books and guides of local information which we have prepared for you stay and answer any questions you may have. Our guests will have access to our contact details on arrival so they never feel they are totally alone! We offer a concierge service where we are happy to recommend and book restaurants, book taxi’s and sometimes flowers and birthday cakes for special occasions!

Very Good

“A unique experience.”

Reviewed 26 May 2018

We feel so lucky to have stayed in Casa Colomba and experience the best week of our month in Italy. Right from the welcome Marie and Lorenzo gave us on arrival we felt at home in this beautiful, unique apartment in a tower. The locals were so friendly, the food was delicious and the country walks fantastic. We got to see the real lifestyle of Vicopisano and we are determined to experience it again!

Owner's reply: Dear Alicia, thank you for your review of Casa Colomba and Vicopisano. It was such a pleasure to meet both you and Tim and we truly hope that you do get back to Vicopisano, so we may welcome you to Casa Colomba again. We still have so much more to catch up on! Keep in touch and warmest wishes from Lorenzo and I. Marie
