The Cheshire region
Chester is a great base for exploring the region: rural Cheshire has many family attractions from country pubs to ancient castles, craft and antique centres. Visit Liverpool's famous Albert Dock and take a step back to the Swinging Sixties at the world-famous Cavern Club.
Travelling west for just one hour will take you to the striking Welsh mountains and beautiful coastline. This is a superb base for a varied and enjoyable vacation at any time of year!
Halton House is within walking distance of Chester's celebrated city centre taking a pleasant stroll along the Shropshire Union Canal. The neighborhood is a leafy residential suburb which is well-served by local bus services and has local pubs and small shops within easy reach.
Chester centre is steeped in history and the original streets laid out during the Roman occupation still form the heart of the city. The Roman walls and amphitheatre are the backdrop to a wealth of unique architecture including Elizabethan town houses, medieval churches, and the famous medieval shopping “Rows”.
There's an abundance of fine bars, bistros and restaurants to please every taste and budget. In the summer months visitors' can enjoy a picnic in the park or a rowing boat trip along the picturesque River Dee.
A fantastic day out at 'Chester Races' can be enjoyed at the 500 year old Roodee race course which also hosts show-jumping events and Polo matches.
Places to visit, things to see and do, festivals & events in and around Chester are far too numerous to list here but we will gladly help you plan an exciting itinerary for your stay.

"Lovely house in a great location"
The house is very nice and the location is excellent. A pleasant 30-minute-ish walk along the canal to Chester and very easy access to motorways. Liverpool well within reach. Beds were very comfortable and the house was very clean throughout. Very close to an excellent supermarket and takeaways.

Lovely house, with sympathetic decor and features, crisp white bed linen and comfy beds. Milk and biscuits etc. on arrival, and a very personal touch from Amanda to celebrate my birthday the reason for the visit. The only downside was the lack of en-suite but we knew that before we booked and with this style of house it would be impossible to achieve. A brisk walk into Chester, with a couple of watering holes en route added to the pleasure of our stay.
Thank you Linda, I'm so glad you had a wonderful birthday in Chester and thanks for being great guests who are very welcome to return the next time you're heading 'up North'.

"Home from Home in a beautiful part of Britain"
Halton House is a delightful rental carefully furnished in a lovely English style with comfortable beds and sofas complemented by many antiques. It is well-maintained and cleaned and well-stocked with supplies and kitchen utensils. It is about one mile from the centre of the unique city of Chester but easy to drive or take a bus or taxi anywhere in the city. It has quick access to the motoroways and A-roads for journeys into the beautiful countryside and country houses in the region, and the spectalular mountains and beaches of North Wales towards Anglesey and Snowdonia are just an hour's drive away. It may not be in the prettiest of neighbourhoods, but it is quiet residential area and part of a lovely terrace of Victorian houses. The owner is very helpful and we loved the homely touches such as the welcome-pack including a bottle of wine.
I'm so glad that you all enjoyed your accommodation so much and certainly made the most of exploring our marvelous region. Thank you for being perfect house guests, you're welcome to return again the next time you're travelling to Cheshire.

This is a beautifully maintained house, more of a home than a holiday rental, with beautiful furniture, and everything you can possible need. The beds are very comfortable, the rooms spacious. A 25 minute walk along the canal brings you into the centre of Chester - what more to ask for?
Thank you so much for your valued feedback. We work hard to create a welcoming and comfortable experience at Halton House and it's wonderful when this is reflected in our visitors' comments. Thank you for being such courteous guests, I'm so glad you enjoyed your holiday in Chester and have taken away such happy memories.

"Excellent home from home in a beautiful city."
Came away for a weekend break; lovely property, excellent location to the city centre, very low cost if using taxis. Fully furnished with well kept rooms, beds were beyond comfortable. Amanda (owner) has a massive folder with details for everything you could need in the house or where to visit and how to get there. Amanda was really helpful providing me with information before our stay and the process of booking was very simple and straightforward. Will definitely be returning as there are more places I would like to explore. Highly recommend.

"Lovely warm comfortable House ideally placed to explore Chester"
A really comfortable house which is much larger than it looks from the outside. Excellent facilities including heating, powerful shower in main bathroom & free Wifi. A 25 minute walk to the city centre along the Canal or a frequent bus service during the day made it an ideal base to explore the lovely city of Chester.
