Les Figuiers is well presented in a style reflecting the nature of its location.

The Occitanie region

To learn a little more about the Gard ...

For food and wine lovers, there is an abundance of gastronomic delights and wine domaines. Visit the numerous 'caves cooperatives' and private cellars and taste the various appellations such as St Gervais, Chusclan, Laudun, Pic St Loup and Regional Côtes du Rhône, Costières de Nimes and Tavel Rosé.

A visit to the region would not be complete without visiting one of the many markets where pallets of local produce are displayed in glorious multicolour with aromas to entice, whilst the numerous fabulous restaurants also make use of the many Specialities of the Region on their menus such as: The Picholine Olive; Uzès Honey; The 'Pelardon' (the traditional goat's cheese of the Cevennes); The Uzège Truffle; Asparagus; Figs; Chestnuts; Camargue Rice; Shellfish. Dishes such as 'Boeuf à la Gardianne' and 'Brandade du Morue' should be tried and savoured!

With consistent sunshine throughout the spring and summer months and a landscape which lends itself to the outdoor lifestyle, the area is a playground for both culture and fun. From the Mont Aigoual, the highest point in the Cevennes, to the fine sands of the Mediterranean, without forgetting the famous Pont du Gard, the Gard offers a wide range of breathtaking sites and a varied and beautiful choice of heritage.

To list all the activities and attractions available to the visitor would take volumes. Whether foodie, sports enthusiast or culture vulture, adults can indulge themselves with the wine and gastronomy; cultural sites and artistic visits (such as the ceramics in Saint Quentin la Poterie); watching the traditional summer festivals with their bull running; adventures on the hiking, cycling, kayaking or climbing and caving routes, swimming or fishing in the rivers; airborne activities such as parachuting, ballooning and micro lighting - or if all that sounds too exhausting - by just simply relaxing !

Leisurely family entertainment can be found lazing the day away on the long sandy beaches or in one of the numerous fun parks such as La Bouscarrasse or Espace Grand Bleu Water Parks near Uzès and La Grande Motte; horse riding and pony trekking at one of the many centres or visit the Haribo museum or the Crocodile farm at Pierrelatte.

Vezenobres

Vézénobres' stunning medieval architecture and pristine streets are why it is a listed 'Village de Caractère' and 'un des plus beaux villages du Gard'. It is celebrated as The National Village of the Fig for it's fig tree terraces and hosts 2 wonderful festivals each year. Vézénobres also plays host to the 'Square Boules World Championships' - an annual competitive (and fun!) event which takes place on the medieval streets in the centre of the village!

Vezenobres is a beautiful medieval hillside village which has all the amenities including restaurants, boulangerie, tabac, supermarket, post office, pharmacy and beauty salon.

It is within easy reach of the vast sandy beaches of the Mediterranean, the vineyards of the Côtes du Rhone, the cultural sites of historic significance such as Avignon and the Pont du Gard, and the cosmopolitan towns of Montpellier, Nimes and Uzes. The bustling market town of Alès is 5 minutes drive away and closeby is lively Anduze with its street cafés, the famous mountain steam train 'Train à Vapeur des Cevennes' and the magnificent asian bamboo gardens 'La Bambouseraie de Prafrance' .

Play golf at outstanding golf courses, walk in the Cévennes and swim in the mountain rivers. Canoeing, rafting and horse-riding and skiing are all within easy access.

It is an ideal pied a terre to absorb the richness of the region and its culinary delights or as a place to relax with the family or on a romantic break

The area and climate has something for everyone - the outdoor activities, gourmet food and wine and historical sites!
