An enchanting place, Ideal for anyone who is looking for a place of peace and relaxation. The bed and breakfast Il Mandorlo is located in Vetulonia, an ancient Etruscan village in the heart of Maremma. Here you can visit the Etruscan Museum and admire the archaeological Etruscan site and the Tombs.

VETULONIA, THE VILLAGE
Vetulonia has actually about 300 inhabitants. In the village, a few meters from the b&b, you can find a small “supermarket”, two bars and two restaurants, a newsstand and a tobacconist.
The historical Etruscan museum is about 200 meters from the b&b and the archeological Etruscan City is about 400 meters form the b&b.
The archeological Etruscan City dates from the third-first century BC, when the Etruscan city of Vetulonia was now under the Roman orbit. Today you can see a paved road, the decumanus, which was cross-linked in the urban Roman main street. The sides there are, on the one hand, shops and homes, while on the opposite side, there are tanks and a collecting system for the water needs of the area. Minor roads cross, starting from the main road and head towards a hill, dividing the town into blocks. On one of these pathways has been reported recently in the light of a private mansion that is built around a large courtyard with a central pool for the collection of rainwater. A violent destruction, perhaps a fire that affected the whole area, led to the abandonment of the building, which was adorned with terracotta slabs decorated, found in fragments. Despite their incompleteness, there is represented the greek myth of Medea. A suggestive hypothesis is that the frieze showing the tradition that one of the Argonauts, one of the founders of Vetulonia.?
At the feet of the hill on which Vetulonia is located, there are the monumental tombs, that can be reached through the street of tombs, a dirt road well signposted. You will soon find the Tomb of the Belvedere, after which the Tomb of Pietrera where was found the statue of Pietrera, built in 630 BC, which is one of the oldest examples of monumental sculpture Etruscan.
