“Charming owner, delightful little cottage”

Reviewed 21 Oct 2016

I spent a week with my dog in this delightful little cottage in August 2016. It is tucked away in the pretty old quarter of Vernet-les-Bains and is full of old-fashioned charm. It's small and simply furnished, but has everything you need for a comfortable stay, including a washing machine and dishwasher. There is a kitchen and sitting area downstairs (with a wonderful wood stove - not needed in August!), and a bedroom and bathroom upstairs. The price was extremely reasonable, particularly for August, and Marisa, the lovely owner, was a delight to deal with. The main square, with its cafés, bakeries and tourist info office, is only a 5-minute walk down the hill, and there are several excellent hiking trails which depart from nearby. Highly recommended!

We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay and that our simple cottage was agreeable. It's nice to know that other people appreciate the simple ambience of our holiday hame. We love it there and would be there all the time except for family back in UK. It was great that you found some good hiking trails nearby, there is one that leads to a Cascade des Anglais. In the square is Jean Louis, which could be the stage set of Allo Allo, it is so French, and above the cottage a bistrot Le Cortal ,(shepherd's house), run by bi -linqual English. We also love the place for the thermal spas, which are theraputic, lying in the ones at St Thomas , surrounded by mountains. so sun, nearby sea and mountains within easy reach and friendly village.
