It is immersed in the surrounding gardens, orchard and has its own private driveway. It offers a relaxing holiday, whether you like to walk, cycle, fish, go to water parks, ride, admire the areas historical chateaux and their magical surroundings, see animals or just sit and enjoy the sun.

“Quiet, relaxing and well equipped.”

Having left it late to book anywhere we were looking for a quiet gite near to Nantes for just a week, and stumbled across La Gaudichalie. Directions and communications were excellent and pain free (we booked via Holiday Lettings website), and arrived late on the Saturday evening, got ourselves settled. The gite is spacious and well equipped, with 3 large double bedrooms, two upstairs both with en-suite bathrooms and the 3rd downstairs, plus a family bathroom downstairs. Apart from the downstairs bedroom and bathroom it is an open plan space with a tidy little kitchen, sofa, armchairs plus dining table and chairs - and a full size pool table! Both the upstairs rooms have TVs, plus a large TV downstairs, all with Freesat channels, so you can stay caught up with UK TV. Externally there are some sun loungers, garden table and chairs plus a small mobile bbq. There is no pool or wifi which we were advised of when speaking with Debbie, but that was not a problem for us for the week - but you do get 3G/4G cell reception if needed. There are also extensive games, jigsaws, english books and DVDs in the house as well. The location itself places you in the middle of a square with Nantes, Angers, Le Mans and Rennes as the corners - the village of Vergonnes is very small and quiet, with the gite about a mile's drive off the main road surrounded by farmers fields - incredibly quiet. The nearest town with boulangerie and supermarket is Pouance, about a 5 minute drive. Overall, if you are after a quiet, secluded break with a large well equipped gite, then this is a perfect location, but a car is required.

Loved it! Exactly what my partner and I needed. A beautiful place to stay for 5 days exploring rural France. All the necessary amenities were within an accessible distance but the main feature was the beautiful house and facilities. We would highly recommend this as a great place for a quiet getaway location but also for families too. We will visit again.
