Location description from owner

The England region

The Isle of Wight, with its many beaches, unspoiled scenery, rich heritage and architecture is the perfect holiday destination for walkers, sailors, fishermen, foodies and beach lovers. We have beautiful sandy beaches and secret coves, there's a beach for everyone! We also have over 500 miles of public footpaths around the Island and even an annual walking festival. If sailing is your thing, the renowned annual Cowes Week is not to be missed and the terrace at Valerian Cottage is a great viewing point for the world famous Round The Island Race.
Throughout the year there are festivals and concerts on the Island from the famous Isle Of Wight Festival thru to open air concerts at Osbourne House, built between 1845 and 1851 for Queen Victoria and Prince Albert as their summer home. Perhaps visit the Garlic and Gaffers Festivals where there is live music, street entertainment and lots to see and do.
There are plenty of places to explore and attractions to visit such as the Isle of Wight Zoo with its rare tigers and big cats or perhaps a day at the Needles, Blackgang Chine or a boat trip around the Island?

Ventnor

The Victorian resort of Ventnor is located at the southern tip of the Isle of White and enjoys its own micro climate giving the town and surrounding villages of Bonchurch and Niton a Mediterranean feel. Ventnor is located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the surrounding sandy beaches provide excellent facilities for water sports or even just a paddle. The Botanic Gardens is a must to visit whilst in Ventnor and from there take the Coastal Path to Steephill Cove and enjoy the delicious local seafood whilst overlooking the Ocean.
The award winning beach at Ventnor is a great place to spend the day for all the family whether you want to watch the world (and ships) go by from your deckchair or keep an eye on the children as they play on the lovely sandy beach. Make sure you enjoy the locally made ice cream!
The town of Ventnor has a good selection of local pubs and eateries, many serving up the local catch of the day and Island grown or reared produce. Restaurants cater for all tastes from traditional fish and chips on the seafront right through to award winning cuisine in stunning surroundings!

“Fabulous place to stay and really helpful owners!”

Reviewed 27 Aug 2016

Just returned from a two week stay at the delightful Valerian Cottage with my wife and daughters (aged 6 and 4). The cottage is beautifully presented and extremely comfortable - more like a proper home than a holiday letting. I would thoroughly recommend this as a place to stay and my wife and I are already talking about returning next year. The owners seem lovely people - great communication and even offering advice on areas they thought my kids would enjoy. Thanks to James and Amanda for a wonderful holiday!

Thank you so much for your kind words and so pleased you enjoyed your stay and the cottage. Thank you also for leaving the cottage in such lovely condition. We look forward to welcoming you back. Amanda & James
