The Veneto region
The pearl of Veneto is by far Venice but there are also lesser know gems to be enjoyed as well.
The pre-Roman mosaics of Aquilea are breathtaking.
The Scrovegni Chapel by Giotto in Padova is worth a trip in itself.
Both of these can be reached in less than one hour once on the mainland.
Venice is well known for its art and architecture, but lesser known are the natural beauty of its lagoon and the many scattered islands. Torcello, Murano, Pellestrina and Burano to name just a few.

"Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Borgo Malomocco. Gem of a place!"
We are a family of 4, with 2 teenage children. We stayed at Borgo Malamocco in the summer of 2011, and used it as a base to discover the Venice area and North East Italy. We had 2 friends stay over for a couple of days, while we were there. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Borgo Malamocco, which is a beautiful home in a perfect location. We found it very easy to find and convenient to settle in, with the help of Manolo and with the instructions we were given by the friendly owner. The file and leaflets with local information on Lido is very good, with great tips for the beach, shops, restaurants, local pool and tennis courts etc. We felt at home in the village, and found it extremely relaxing to return "home" to Borgo Malamocco from our trips to the other islands in the Venice area, Florence, Verona and Cortina d'Ampezzo. It is a gem of a place, and we have very fond memories of our time there.

We had the best time in Lido staying at Borgo Malamocco.5of us all together and we never got in each others way at all.Plenty of room. The two big bathrooms were very nice. Two very nice bedrooms and the loft overlooking the open living room with all the beautiful art and kitchen were perfect. We made some awesome Italian meals in that beautiful well equipped kitchen. The large family table was where we ended our evenings after the day in Venice or at the beach or watching the sunset.

"Delightful, holiday retreat."
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Malamocco. It was a great spot to head home to at the end of the day, escaping the crowds of Venice. The house is very clean, well equipped and comfortable. Transportation to and from Venice was quick and easy. The bus to the Lido ran every 20 minutes and took only 10 minutes and the ferry over the lagoon ran at least as frequently and was a 15 minute hop. There are a couple of small shops in Malamocco but we tended to pick up supplies in the Lido or in the Co-op a couple of bus stops away. And, of course, there are an abundance of places to eat out in Venice and in the Lido.

"Superb property in a superb location."
Found this property in 2008 and have returned for three more magical holidays. The house is ideal for families or a large group of friends. It is tastefully decorated and has many extra comforts. The large 'New York' type living room is the centre of the house with plenty of cooking and dining space. The open plan area is just the place to have a drink and talk about your day at the beach, the private swimming club, the fun of the village or your day in Venice. Its so handy for visiting all the sights in Venice knowing that you can return on the ferry to the peace and tranquility of the Lido. The bedrooms are spacious and the bathrooms sparkle. There is a very attractive out door area with table and chairs and is at its best first thing in the morning for a spot of breakfast. Malamocco is a beautiful village with interesting buildings, a town square and the restaurant opposite the house is certainly worth a visit.
