In Angouleme you will find the Nautilus Water Park with 50m indoor pool, diving pools and outdoor and indoor slides plus a wave machine.
Also in Angouleme one of the best carting tracks around run by an former Indy car racing driver – speaks excellent English.
There are several golf courses within reasonable driving distance at Cognac ( 18 hole ), Aubeterre and Angouleme ( 9 hole ).

Shopping in the local town of Villeboise with it's SuperU hypermarket and local shops will take 10 minutes in the car and the busy market town of Riberac is only 20 minutes away with a large local market every Friday morning. It really is a perfect balance between the quiet and privacy of living in the beautiful Dordogne countryside and spending time wandering through the streets of old towns and villages or dining in one of the many fine restaurants in the area.

The Dordogne region

The Dordogne region of France is one of the most beautiful and popular regions of France. Visiting this wonderful region of France you will discover the Chateaux, beautiful medieval towns and villages, unspoiled countryside and prehistoric caves. There are many famous sites in the Dordogne, including: Lascaux caves, Marqueyssac gardens, medieval Sarlat and the prehistoric caves in the Vezere valley. Yet it is the places you visit outside these ' tourist attractions' that will stay longest in your memory. The scenery, the peace, the coffee in a small cafe, the picnic by the stream.

Vendoire

Vendoire is the commune to which Le Verger belongs. It lies 1 Km to the south along a country lane and boasts a large, impressive Chateaux which unfortunately is not open to the public. Vendoire now has a new restaurant which occupies the old schoolhouse. Verteillac is less than 10 Km away and is a large, busy village with a good range of shops, two restaurants, bars and a bank and post office. It is a typical provincial french village, full of character and a great place to visit. An equivalent trip in the other direction takes you to Villeboise Lavalette a Charente market town with a full range of amenities including a SuperU Hypermarche, tennis courts and a lively market.

“Peaceful holiday cottage.”

Reviewed 10 Oct 2011

Highly recommended for peaceful and tranquil holiday. No distractions, just make your own fun and trips out as far as you want to go. Countryside delightful, scenery attractive and sunsets wonderful. Plenty of space. Local facilities and attractions very good.
