“Off the beaten path”

Reviewed 20 Nov 2014

We stayed here our last 3 days in Rome. We chose it because we thought it was near the Vatican. After 3 weeks in Italy, we'd learned that maps provide only a general idea of locations. So while we could see St Peter's from the balcony, it's quite a hike to the Vatican entrance. We're both fit and walk quickly, but without getting lost, it took 35-40 minutes. Unfortunately, we got lost a lot. If you stay here, plan to take a cab. You'll need to call a cab or walk a block to the main road. For the absolute best cab ride, call Emanuele Della Seta +39 339 4838893. Be ready to sing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbKc1Lk5fgU This apartment is part of a 21 unit condo building that seems to date to the 1960s - retro. It's not vintage Rome. It does have an elevator which is nice for carrying luggage to this top floor apartment. The apartment itself has knee-walls, which makes the space interesting, but also meant we hit our heads several times. The bedroom balcony overlooks a bathroom tile showroom (not exactly scenic, but at least quiet). Beyond the showroom is a huge park. We enjoyed having coffee and watching the green parrots swoop between the trees. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The location is just a bit further out than expected.

Hello Susan I am glad you enjoyed your stay. I am really surprised though that you said that the apartment is far from the Vatican. The apartment is 20 minutes walking from St Peter's square, not more (17 minutes according to Google Maps). Maybe is because you got lost, but you cannot say that it is not close to the Vatican. Kind regards

“Excellent apartment in a great location”

A lovely, clean and comfortable apartment, close to Vatican City, with plenty room for a small group. A couple of supermarkets are close by, and the apartment has plenty of utensils and equipment for cooking. There are also lots of restaurants and cafes in the local area, if you wish to eat out. Loved the little terraces, and the quiet locality. Excellent customer service from the owner.

“Just Perfect for the 'better half's' Birthday trip”

Having never been to Rome before choosing a place to stay was quite daunting. We chose this apartment as it met all our 'tick boxes' seemed close enough to the city and looked lovely in the photos. The owners are a credit to the holiday lettings website. Easy to contact - very quick to reply and an excellent rate given. We paid through PayPal (quick, safe and secure). They were helpful in advising on whether we needed airport transport and they could arrange this for a fee. We booked our flights via the BA website as we wanted direct rather than just cheap as we were travelling up from Devon. We also booked our airport transport via a separate company - who were equally amazing and accommodating - including answering a frantic 10pm email on landing in Rome letting them know we had been delayed by an hour in London and to wait for us - they were already aware of the delay and were waiting. Making contact whilst in Rome was easy and effortless and we met outside the apartment and taken in and made to feel at home straight away. A full explanation was given on the apartment, a tourist map of Rome as well as the best sightseeing places. Deposit exchanged, Tourist Tax paid and contracts signed - Done! Our trip was made even better because we got to come home everyday and just 'veg out' after a long day of walking and sightseeing. The apartment was amazing, It looks just like in the photos, and is surprisingly spacious and very well thought out. The kitchen although small was more than suitable to cook in, with a full sized cooker, and dishwasher and fridge freezer and ooodles of crockery, cutlery etc. There was plenty of blankets and pillows to keep any chill at bay (the heating is controlled by the building, not individual apartments). Although it was just the two of us, the apartment has a full size pull out metal sofa bed (very comfy), meaning a third person or couple could easily be accommodated. The building was very secure - key or buzzer entry, and the door to the apartment had deadlocking - we always felt secure. The lift for the building was temperamental - but five flights of stairs is good exercise. We were only a 10min walk to the Vatican, 2 mins walk to the nearest bank, and 1min walk to a local supermarket and just 5mins walk to San Pietro Train station - which links to every major line you would need in the city. Free wifi as well meaning we had access to emails, and the internet to plan trios and routes. A good piece of advice is to take a few emergency essentials with you i.e tea, coffee, sugar powdered milk etc as none of this was there when we visited - however it is easy to buy from the local minimart. Overall, this is an excellent apartment, with excellent owners and service and we are hoping to book and go again!

Thank you, we are glad you had a nice stay!
