This location is a great option for everyone, with its mild climate, historic gardens and artists and delicious food. A hairdryer is provided. Outside there are two picnic tables and sun umbrellas to provide shade. There is also a paddling pool for guests with small children to use. The garden is also fully-enclosed so children can roam. Close by just a few minutes walk towards the sea, is the famous Bois de Moutiers, a beautiful old arts and crafts house with a numerous large historic gardens which make a very pleasant afternoon stroll. Then there is the 'Shamrock' garden also a few minutes walk, holding the biggest collection of hortensias in the world, with more than 1000 varieties. Within Varengeville itself, there is also Manoir d'Ango to visit, a summer palace built by Jehan Ango in the 1500s in the Italian Renaissance style. Further afield there is Dieppe at 10 minutes drive away, with a covered swimming pool complex, a Sea Museum and a Castle with many steps to climb and a reward of amazing sea views. Many cafes and restaurants provide good refuelling, making a trip to the large, imposing Gothic church, possible. Still further away there are other lovely seaside towns of Veules-les-Roses and Saint-Valery-En-Caux, both charming little seaside towns to explore. The area too is dotted with supermarkets meaning a full shop can be easily done, either 5 minutes away at Offranville or 10 minutes away in Dieppe.

Location description from owner

The Haute-Normandie region

Varengeville-Sur-Mer is a beautiful green forested village with plenty of things to see and do, not to mention the outstanding food of the region to enjoy such as fruits de mer and the Calvados!

The village itself is full of mature trees and fields of spring flowers, the local Normany agriculture very apparent. Bois de Moutiers is an outstanding collection of plants and trees in a vast area with views overlooking the sea.

The Shamrock Collection is another horticultural amazement with the world's largest collection of hydrangeas hosted here.

The coast is a 10 minute walk away with access to the sea down a rocky path through the cliffs. There is also a secret hidden beach in Varengeville which is sandy and has parking. Ask us for details! Pebble beaches with sand by the shoreline are a 5 minute drive away and never get crowded.

Little playgrounds dot the coast line and there seems to be one in many of the little coastal villages.

There is a wilderness to this area that is utterly charming and helps you feel like you're 'getting away from it all', so quiet and peaceful everything is.

Normandy is also very well known for its cheeses. So fertile is the land, it commands the highest agricultural price in France - and you can really taste it in the produce of the region!

Varengeville-sur-Mer

The area of Seine Maritime where our house is situated is along the Cote d'Albartre - meaning the Alabaster Coast. It is very similar to the white cliffs of Dover and these beautiful white cliffs continue for many miles all the way along the coastline in Normandy.

It is very wild and peaceful, very green and full of open spaces yet also ancient forests. It really is a magical place.

The house in Varengeville is extremely quiet. There is no noise of traffic as it is not on a main road, but sits down its own drive and in a large plot.
