Set in a horseshoe shaped valley below the village of Válor, Las Cañadas is a three bedroomed cortijo with private pool, lounge, dining room and two terraces within it's own spacious grounds.This traditionally built house remains cool and airy throughout the summer although wood is provided for the open fire for those booking later in the season who may experience cooler evenings.The solid wood kitchen is full of character and offers ample storage. It is well equipped with pots, pans and everything else you require to cater for yourselves including an electric juicer so you can make the most of the plentiful oranges (in season). The adjacent dining room has french windows onto the terrace and farmhouse style furniture.The spacious living room with french windows leading onto the terrace also has three further large windows making it an extremely light and airy space. There is also a walk in wardrobe and antique drawers. This room opens onto a vine covered pergola offering direct access to the pool.The large family bathroom offers bath with a shower over, washbasin, wc and bidet with Moroccan style cupboards for towels.The top floor is approached via an idyllic shaded terrace with cane suite and fabulous views. Stable style doors lead to an attractive double room and a dual aspect twin, each of which has their own separate entrance from the terrace.The ground floor terrace has dappled shade from the well established vines and offers an outdoor dining area for 6 people with a barbecue. The perfect place to absorb the stunning views whilst relaxing in a peace and tranquillity which has to be experienced to be believed.The cortijo is approached by a track which can be slightly bumpy in places so we do recommend a car with good ground clearance such as a Renault Kangoo or similar. Alternatively, we can meet you in the village, which is less than 10 minutes walk away, and transport you and your luggage to the house.

Andalucia is the southernmost regio of Spain with more than 300 days of sunshine a year and retains strong Moorish influences which can be seen at tha Alhambra in Granada as well as in all the local village architecture.The Costa Tropical boasts fine beaches and calm blue seas a world away from the more touristy areas of Spain. Enjoy the beachside chiringuitos and a stroll along the beautiful coastline or simply sunbathe and relax. With beaches, mountains and historical cities it really does offer something for everyone.

Valor

The moorish village of Valor perches on the foothills of the Sierra Nevada gazing out over the valley and the market town of Ugijar. An unspoilt traditional Spanish village popular with spanish tourists. Situated two hours from Granada (the Alhambra Palace is truely unmissable) and one hour from the coast, culture, countryside, beaches and skiing are all within easy reach. With a population of just under 1000, the village has 9 bars all of which serve tapas and a couple of which offer a full menu. There are also 2 small supermarkets, one with it's own bakery, which sell all essentional shopping items including fresh meat, fruit and veg. The travelling market visits on the 4th and 19th of every month with a few stalls selling clothing, plants, nuts & olives etc. For a wider range of shops and a bustling twice monthly market (5th and 20th), the town of Ugijar is just 10 kilometers away. The village pool is open during the months of July and August and there are numerous fiestas throughout the year, the largest of these being Moors and Christians in September when the villagers re-enact the taking of the Alhambra complete with horses and musket fire.You are surrounded by magnificent views of the Sierra Nevada and Contraviersa mountain ranges with numerous opportunities for walking and mountain biking on your doorstep. For the more adventurous, Mulhacen is close at hand.Try visiting a local vineyard, take a walking tour, hire a mountain bike, visit the historical city of Granada, explore the local villages or simply while away your time relaxing by the pool!Popular with Spanish tourists but as yet relatively undiscovered by other nationalities, Valor is an extremely friendly pueblo blanco and an ideal place to observe and enjoy the traditional Spanish way of life.
